The Pillars of a Veritas Education: Part Four
The purpose of Veritas is to cultivate the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness and Beauty. What this means is described in the Philosophical Pillars of Great Hearts. In this issue, we focus on the fourth pillar:

Students and parents: we invite you to think about these claims and explore what they mean in each subject. Ask your teachers what this means for their classes!
Mock Trial Club Victory

A hearty congratulations to the Veritas Mock Trial teams, which placed First & Fourth out of 16 teams in the Maricopa County Regional Tournament on Saturday. Isabela Barrett, Emily Gates & Abby Kaup were named to the All-Region Team. This was an all-day marathon of critical thinking and speaking and we are very proud of all the 14 students on our Mock Trial teams. Please give them some support as they head into the upcoming State Tournament!

Seniors Financial Aid and Scholarship letters - Workshop March 20th at lunch - Rm 206
At this time seniors are  receiving admissions, financial aid and scholarship letters from their colleges. What many do not understand is that each college sends notifications in different ways and at different times.
Some colleges today send their decision via email while others send letters. Even more confusing is that some colleges send your acceptance, financial aid and scholarship information in one letter, while others send these all seperately. Many students receive an initial acceptance with a scholarship offer - HOWEVER many colleges do not send financial aid award letters until sometime in March.
So, while you are assessing your options, be sure to see if you have all of the information you need from each college.  If you sent your FAFSA to a college you should be receiving a financial aid package.
On Tuesday, March 20th during lunch in room 206 seniors can bring in their financial aid/scholarship offer letters to learn how to compare their offers.  We will have a worksheet for you to simplify this sometimes confusing process. If you have questions in the meantime feel free to meet with your college counselor.
