VPC’s featured Custom Home Project of the Month for March is the spectacular Mountain Modern Lodge. With six bedrooms, six full baths, and two half baths, this custom built 11,200 square foot timber frame residence exemplifies breathtaking mountain luxury.
The home borrows inspiration from its surroundings with smooth, thoughtful exteriors that harmonize with nature and create the ultimate getaway. A deck constructed with Brazilian hardwood runs the entire length of the house. Other exterior design elements include both copper and Douglas Fir beams, stone, standing seam metal roofing, and custom wire railing.
Upon entry, visitors are introduced to an impressively sized great room ornamented with tall, shiplap ceilings and a patina copper cantilever fireplace. The open floor plan includes Kolbe windows that welcome the sweeping vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The great room also includes access to the vast kitchen and dining area that features cabinets adorned with valances as well as double-swinging pantry doors. The kitchen countertops exhibit beautifully crafted granite with double waterfall edges and continuous grains.
Alder wall coverings are displayed throughout the main floor, and stone accents grace both levels. Another highlight is the LED strips illuminating the stair nosings, as well as the kitchen cabinets.
Each guest bedroom has its own bathroom and private patio access. Features include bunk bed lofts and stunning gold-tone light fixtures against a rustic mountain scene wallcovering.
In the master bedroom, a handsome patina copper fireplace coupled with vaulted ceilings make for an unforgettable first impression. A cabinet-grade wood and tufted fabric bed valence bring a soft, cozy balance to the room’s overall grandness. Attached is the master bathroom encompassing his and hers walk-in closets, showers, toilets, and vanities.
The downstairs media room also sports a patina copper fireplace as well as decorative linear burners. Shiplap cedar is showcased on the ceilings, as well as smooth-sawn Douglas Fir beams. Chocolate gray is on theme with the rest of the home, as well as Hickory flooring. A kitchen and wet bar complete this mountain entertainment utopia.

Casey is a native of Boone, NC. She attended Appalachian State University and Catawba Valley Community College School of Dental Hygiene where she was the President of both the Dental School and the Community College.
She is a Registered Dental Hygienist in NC and enjoyed a successful decade-long career in private practice here in the high country. Also, Casey is a sales executive at Ridge Runner Trading Company, a wholesale natural botanicas business her parents started in 2000.
Casey married the love of her life, Matt Vincent, in 2016. Matt’s vision for growing VPC Builders and his passion for creating beautiful homes rubbed off on her. She is now an Account Coordinator and a team leader at VPC Builders. She generates leads, creates internal processes, onboard new hires, and supports accounting.
Casey aspires to pursue a degree in Interior Design. Her hobbies include hiking with her German Sheppard Thor, fishing/boating, gardening, horseback riding, cooking, vacationing to new places, researching home design products, and playing with her two little boys Dean & Nash who love dinosaurs and tools, lots of tools!

The month of March is fast approaching, which means that spring is right around the corner. For us canines, spring means more time to play – and, of course, nap – in the fresh air and sunshine. One of my favorite places to nap is on a deck. A deck is a multifunctional space for humans to congregate for birthday parties and family dinners or simply to enjoy being outside.
