Twin Rivers is a stunning, custom home built by VPC Builders back in 2008. It remains one of our most popular homes as we continue to receive inquiries about it…thirteen years later! Needless to say, it’s a project we are proud to have completed.
A couple of months ago, VPC was afforded the opportunity to work again with the owners of Twin Rivers to replace the existing handrails with new cable rails. Our team also installed new 4 x 6 cedar top rails. It was a simple upgrade that greatly enhanced the overall look of the covered porch. The changes also allow the homeowners to have a better view of the river from the deck.
This luxurious mountain lodge is located in the beautiful Twin Rivers subdivision in Boone, North Carolina. It features a custom-designed gourmet kitchen perfect for entertaining, a welcoming master suite—complete with a soothing spa bath— a relaxing outdoor waterfall, a koi pond, and user-friendly smart-house technology.

Updates from the VPC Team
|
|
Welcome To The Team, Justin!
|
|
Justin was born and raised in West Virginia where he developed a love for the outdoors by riding dirt bikes, snowboarding, and whitewater rafting.
After graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in Political Science, he spent three years as a skydiving instructor in Zephyrhills, Florida, before enlisting in the Marine Corps. After serving in the military, Justin worked with a home builder in Raleigh, North Carolina for several years where he developed a passion to build more efficient and sustainable homes. That passion brought him to Appalachian State University where he earned a degree in Building Science, with a concentration in Sustainable Building Systems.
Since starting his career building custom homes in the High Country, Justin has continued his goal of building better homes by becoming a Certified Passive House Builder from the Passive House Institute.
In his free time, Justin enjoys hiking with his two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Zara and Jaro, and snowboarding or kayaking. He is excited to continue developing his building knowledge and being a part of building the best homes in the High Country with VPC Builders.

Hollywood in the High Country
|
"Hollywood in the High Country: A History of the Appalachian Theatre” is a feature-length documentary that explores the 69-year history of Boone’s iconic main-street cinema prior to its closing in 2007. The magic of the movies comes alive through the stories of locals who grew up in front of the theatre’s silver screen. The film also recounts the efforts of the townspeople to purchase and renovate this long-closed theatre into a performing arts center. VPC Builders had the privilege of assisting with the modern theatre renovations that will be discussed in the film. For more information, click the link below.

Did you know that the Golden Gate Bridge is 1.7 miles long?
The bridge was completed in 1937 and held the title as the tallest and longest suspension bridge until 1964. The Golden Gate bridge was painted the color "international orange" to match the warm coastal surroundings and to stand out against the horizon for boaters to see. This bridge is still considered an engineering marvel today.

Did you know that colonial homes did not have rugs placed on the floors?
These rugs were either hung on the walls or used on the beds for warmth. In addition, many one room homes had a loft or attic that was dual purposed for storage and sleeping. Lastly, New England homes that had a long slanting back roof were called a saltbox because they had the same shape as the box where the settlers kept their salt.

Thinking of Remodeling Your Bathroom?
Many homeowners section out a home remodeling project based on their preferences and priorities. In particular, remodeling a bathroom can showcase your personal tastes while increasing your home's value. It can also help with those high energy bills and even improve the safety of your home. (Hey, a watchdog can’t do everything!) Here are three potential advantages and benefits to remodeling a bathroom.
Added Value: A bathroom equipped with new appliances, decor, and updated components will add to the resale value of your home. A remodeled, up-to-date bathroom makes your home more marketable and easier to sell if the need arises.
Increased Utility: A remodeled bathroom can provide you with increased utility that you and your family can enjoy for years to come. For example, adding a new hot tub provides a relaxing retreat for you to enjoy after a stressful day at work. It also improves your bathroom’s overall appearance.
Safety Upgrade: Bathrooms found in older homes often don’t have current safety features, such as non-slip flooring or a shower/tub handle. Some older bathrooms don’t have updated electrical outlets which increases the risk of shock or even electrocution. Upgrading these components can help make a bathroom safer and meet with local building codes.
When considering a bathroom remodel, it is important to choose experts with years of experience. At VPC Builders, we understand that this is a journey, whether you are building a new custom home or updating the home you currently own. We promise to be there for you every step of the way. If you are looking to build or want to discuss a custom renovation, please call our office at 828-295-0707, or email us at info@vpcbuilders.com.
