Chetola Resort Renovation
|
VPC was afforded the opportunity to work with the owners and designers of Chetola to renovate the third floor of this gorgeous resort. Located in the idyllic town of Blowing Rock, this remodel covered sixteen bedrooms, the entire third-floor corridor, and an elevator lobby. The team updated and transformed various interior finishes. This included the addition of expansive murals that capture local, scenic landscapes. VPC collaborated with Chetola to fulfill their vision of both a modern and rustic one-level renovation.
Each bedroom displays commercial carpet tile which achieves both aesthetics and durability. VPC updated the window valances with poplar bark and framed the mural with barn wood. The living space attached to the bedrooms features an accent wall comprised of wood types that include birch, oak, and hickory—all of which present with different widths and varying degrees of thickness.
In the hallways, the team installed new lights with wood sconces, as well as birch bark-accented wallpaper. They placed birch logs for wall corner treatments and fastened barnwood chair rail. Like the bedrooms, commercial carpet tile was installed in the hallways and a fresh coat of paint was applied to the ceilings. Lastly, the team gave the elevator lobby a facelift by installing a new mural, commercial flooring, and poplar bark valances on the windows.

Welcome To The Team, Devon!
|
|
Devon was born and raised in Virginia, having lived there for most of his life. He has always enjoyed building and working with his hands. His construction experience spans twenty years. He spent fifteen of those years running his own company before joining the VPC team. He possesses a passion for timber framing, building log homes, and aspires to build his own home one day. He chose to move to the High-Country for the beauty of the mountains and to be closer to his extended family.
His hobbies are “all things outdoors,” including hunting, hiking, fishing, and camping. He enjoys spending time with his family and living out his Christian faith. In his spare time, you can find him grilling, cooking, and gardening. Devon feels very blessed to be a part of the VPC team and VPC is certainly glad to have him on our team!

Team member Tony Anthony and his two kids participated in a mountain biking race called The Gravel Grinder Race at Dupont State Forest on September 11th. The course was 27 miles long with over 3,000 feet of elevation change. The race terrain included paved roads, gravel roads, jeep trails, and steep downhill singletrack.
Tony’s daughter Kelty won first place for the Female 17 and Under division despite racing with a broken finger. His oldest son Connor also got first place for the Male 17 and Under division. As you can see in the picture above, the Anthony family was very excited to take home two gold medals and celebrate an incredible victory!

VPC Builders had the pleasure of hosting a company barbeque on a beautiful Friday afternoon in September. The staff was provided an early dinner catered by a local restaurant that served delicious entrees and sides at a nearby park. It was a great time to spend with team members, mingle with family and friends, and kick off a gorgeous weekend in the High Country!

Did you know that America's first hospital was founded in 1951?
Pennsylvania Hospital was founded in 1751 by Dr. Thomas Bond and Benjamin Franklin in the heart of Philadelphia. At the time, it was the fastest growing city in the thirteen colonies. From 1730 to 1750, the population grew from 11,500 to 15,000 people and the need for accessible health care became more apparent. Today, it is considered a National Historic Landmark of Pennsylvania.

Did you know that interior design is older than we think?
Some speculate that interior design didn't truly come about until the Victorian era. However, researchers are discovering that it may have been present in the prehistoric era. Some consider drawings on the cave walls not just to be forms of communication but also ways to decorate. Older tribal cultures are known to decorate mud huts with animal skins, tree branches, or pottery.

When Is It Time For New Siding?
Siding is more important than most people think, as it serves several purposes. It not only provides aesthetics, but it also insulates, protects, and makes your home more durable. Here are three signs that your home’s siding needs to be replaced.
Home Frequently Needs Painting
If you are finding it necessary to frequently paint the exterior of your home, this could indicate that your existing siding is chipping, peeling, or cracking. Quality home siding should maintain its color for eight to ten years.
Higher Heating and Cooling Bills
Poor-performing siding can make it more expensive to heat and cool your home. If you have noticed a spike in your energy bills, you should have your siding inspected. Cracked or damaged siding can interfere with your ability to control the temperature in your home.
Rotting and Warping
Visually inspecting the exterior of your home can help you assess whether your siding has rotted or warped. An easy test is to poke under the siding that appears to be bent. If it has softened, then your home is most likely in need of immediate siding replacement.
When considering exterior home improvement, it is important to choose experts who are experienced and knowledgeable. At VPC Builders, we understand that this is a journey, whether you are building a new custom home or updating the home you currently own. We promise to be there for you every step of the way. If you are looking to build or discuss a custom renovation, please call our office at 828-295-0707, or email us at info@vpcbuilders.com.
