Vallejo, CA- On December 24, 2024, at approximately 11:21 p.m., the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) responded to a report of a collision involving a truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of Marin Street and Florida Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a silver Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Marin Street while a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Marin Street. Both vehicles entered the intersection of Florida Street with a green light.
As the driver of the Silverado attempted a left turn onto eastbound Florida Street, he failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in an impact with the passenger side of the Silverado's truck bed.
The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries due to the collision. Emergency medical personnel from the Vallejo Fire Department and Medic Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where lifesaving measures continued. Despite the medical staff's efforts, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the deceased male is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office.
The driver of the Silverado remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The VPD Traffic Division is investigating the cause of this collision and its contributing factors. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors at this time.
This collision marks the 11th traffic related fatality in Vallejo in 2024.
