Vallejo, CA- On October 15, 2024, at approximately 9:01 A.M., the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in the 900 block of Sereno Drive.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a 2023 Nissan Kicks was traveling southbound in a parking lot when the vehicle struck a pedestrian.
The adult female pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. The adult male driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, did not report any injuries and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
Despite the life-saving efforts of medical personnel, the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital on October 19, 2024.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office.
The VPD Traffic Division is actively investigating this incident to determine the cause and any contributing factors. At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
This incident marks the eighth traffic-related fatality in the city of Vallejo in 2024.
