Dear VPK Providers,
The Office of Early Learning is working through the many aspects of offering Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten during a pandemic. They are working with the Governor and Department of Education as they consider "Flexible Innovative Options" for Florida's four-year-old students.
This flexible option may look different around the state, but is designed to ensure that:
- VPK programs are open to enable learning to continue and allow parents able to rejoin the workforce.
- Choices for VPK parents that mirror those choices that K-12 parents now have via approved District Plans for Reopening.
- Structure safeguards that will encourage and shift families to in-person learning.
As soon as we have guidance from the Office of Early Learning regarding these options for public and private providers, we will let you know.
In the meantime, if you are a provider who may be considering this option, you may want to start thinking about how your program would offer this option, the platform you would use, and other important logistical details.
We are here to assist you in as you plan for VPK and all your child care needs.
