CZM Virginia Ocean Plan Virtual Forum

Virginia Ocean Plan on Oct 23, 6:30-8:00pm

Public Input Encouraged to the Virginia Ocean Plan

The Virginia CZM Program invites the public to help shape Virginia's vision for our ocean waters. We especially encourage Virginians to share their stories of how they connect to Virginia's coast and ocean waters: How and where do you interact with the Ocean? What ocean uses are important to you? What issues or concerns should we be considering?

There are various ways to provide your input:

  • Virtually during the on-line forum on October 23, 6:30pm-8pm.  Participants can join this conversation at any point during that time.
  • Via a very brief survey.
  • Via an email to virginiaoceanplan@gmail.com
  • Via a voicemail or text message to (804) 420-8457
  • Send us a picture with a caption that describes your connection to the coast and ocean waters! We may use your picture in the future and will make sure to contact you before doing so. You can send pictures via text to (804) 420-8457 or via email to virginiaoceanplan@gmail.com

A Good Read

Total Garbage: How We Can Fix Our Waste and Heal Our World, by Edward Humes,. published in 2024. It's an investigation into global trash and recycling issues and how both systemic change plus individual action will be needed to make significant inroads into the problem. A message of facts and hope.

Special Funding Opportunity

With funding from the NOAA Marine Debris Program, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation will award 10-15 grants, totaling up to $100,000 for this funding competition. Individual awards will range between $5,000 and $10,000 to support initiatives that prevent the adverse impacts of marine debris in communities that are underserved, underrepresented, or overburdened by marine debris. These projects may include marine debris prevention, education, and outreach activities.
