Dear VSPA Members,

.

Early this morning the Association was made aware of missing overtime pay in the upcoming 11/1/22 paycheck now visible in the Cardinal system. The bulk of the overtime would have been earned during the week ending periods 10/1 and 10/8. To be clear, it seems anyone who worked a work zone, selected enforcement, any contracted or private entity funded overtime during those two weeks did not receive it, whether their 106 had any mistakes or not. They were all either sent back to HR or not processed by the Payroll Services Bureau. We are working to understand why this occurred and most importantly, when the money owed to you will be paid.

.

This is not the only issue with Cardinal. Others may be missing overtime from shift extensions or call outs as well. Some have also reported discrepancies in overtime leave balances not reflected in the new Cardinal format. Some errors were anticipated and that is why you are encouraged to follow the Departments advice to print your last balance reflected in Payline.

.

Our Executive Director Bill Carrico has spoken to the Colonel today and communicated what we have learned through our division representatives and the Department is now trying to determine how widespread this problem is throughout the state. It has been made known that regardless of the cause we would like to know when that money will be paid. While the Colonel was unaware of the issue until we brought to his attention, he has agreed to stay in close communication with our Executive Director on efforts being made to correct the problem. We will also be following up with him this weekend at our regular Board Meeting.

.

As of this afternoon I know some of the 106's with "handwritten" entries have been forwarded back to their respective Divisions and Areas. I would encourage you to reach out to your supervisors to make sure any corrections that need your attention are done quickly, and therefore can be resubmitted promptly. We do not yet know when that payment will come, but as soon as we have an answer to that question, we will share it with you. Rest assured we are working on this issue and will help bring it to a resolution as soon as possible.
