Incident Response is a Team sport: A Cybersecurity Event

HEADLINE: School Districts Increasingly Targeted for Cyber Attacks

Cybersecurity is a topic that often fails to get the attention of the public until headlines of this magnitude surface.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), K-12 school divisions are “particularly lucrative targets due to the amount of sensitive student data accessible through school systems.”

As a K-12 administrator, you need resources and training that can help you protect your students’ and teachers’ personal information.

To support your efforts and strengthen Virginia’s schools against cyber-crime, VSTE and the VDOE have partnered to host the “Incident response is a Team Sport.” During this event, superintendents and their senior leadership teams will participate in dynamic simulations and tabletop exercises that will better prepare you and your team to quickly respond to a cyber attack.

The GRAETC Committee is excited to announce the location of our first face-to-face conference learning opportunity in two years! Our committee is over the moon thrilled to host our annual event again where we can physically be together. For that, we must express our gratitude to our hosting partners, ACCA Shrine Center in Richmond Virginia. Their motto is to “Have Fun and Help Kids” and that aligns with our mission as well. We also appreciate ACCA’s efforts to increase the diversity amongst its members. We are hoping by bringing attention to their work for kids we can both benefit.

Given the opportunity to partner with a location central to our consortium’s represented districts, meeting the needs of hosting our event, and aligned effort’s to support our youth’s needs – we are BEYOND excited to see you on March 8, 2023 at: 1712 Bellevue Ave, Richmond, Virginia, 23227
