Dear Friends,
Last month, I wrote to you about the students in India whose grit and gratitude changed my perspective. This month, I want to talk about the people who make it possible for those students to thrive: You.
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, but for us, the concept is woven into our very name. VT Seva: Volunteering Together for Service. For nearly 20 years, this organization hasn't been run by a distant board or a cold infrastructure. It has been built, brick by brick and hour by hour, by volunteers. You are the foundation.
This isn't just about "giving back" in a general sense; it’s about the practical reality that without people willing to lead, organize, and show up, our mission stops.
To put this spirit into action, we are celebrating Earth Day this month with a massive, nationwide effort: Planting 2026 trees across the USA. True to our roots, this isn’t a project we’ve outsourced. It is entirely volunteer-led and volunteer-executed. It’s about our youth and our families getting their hands in the dirt to honor one of our core pillars, environmental sustainability. Planting a tree is perhaps the most humble act of service; you are working for the benefit of a future you may not even see.
Whether you are digging a hole for a sapling this month or have been with us since we started eighteen years ago, please know this: You don't just "support" VT Seva. "You are VT Seva".
Thank you for your time, your energy, and for showing us that when we volunteer together, we can change the landscape of our world, quite literally.
With gratitude,
Kiran

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” - William Shakespeare
This Earth Day, VT Seva volunteers across the nation came together with one shared mission to protect, nurture, and give back to our planet.
From coast to coast, our branches celebrated Earth Day through impactful service and environmental stewardship, and more activities are planned until the end of this month. To highlight a few:
🌿 Atlanta hosted a successful April Plant Sale, promoting greener homes and communities.
🌿 Cary proudly continued its long-standing Adopt-A-Highway tradition, a meaningful initiative that began in 2012.
🌿 Dallas teams cleaned the streets they adopted, showing a strong commitment to community service and environmental responsibility.
🌿 Detroit volunteers partnered with Greening Detroit to plant trees in local neighborhoods and carried out Adopt-A-Road cleanups.
🌿 Maryland volunteers carried out road cleanups and plant seeding efforts to support greener surroundings.
🌿 Seattle volunteers removed invasive plants and planted native yarrow at local parks, restoring natural habitats.

And this is just the beginning! 🌱
With 21+ VT Seva branches joining hands to plant 2,026 trees across the USA, our collective efforts are growing stronger every day. Many more projects are already underway, continuing the spirit of Earth Day throughout the year.
Together, we are not just celebrating Earth Day; we are building a greener tomorrow.

In the first quarter of 2026, VT Seva USA demonstrated remarkable momentum and unity across its nationwide network, successfully conducting 100+ service events across 24+ branches throughout the United States.
These initiatives reflected the organization’s continued commitment to service through education support, community outreach, environmental stewardship, and youth engagement. From local volunteer drives and fundraising efforts to awareness campaigns and hands-on service activities, volunteers across all chapters came together with a shared purpose of giving back to society.
This widespread impact underscores the strength of the VT Seva USA volunteer network and its ability to mobilize communities at scale while staying true to its mission of service, empowerment, and compassion.
As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer whose time, dedication, and selfless spirit made these achievements possible. Your passion to serve continues to inspire communities and create meaningful change across the nation.

Cancer Awareness Camps
Stories of Hope, Strength, and Survival
Each story here belongs to a woman who faced a cancer diagnosis and recovered with the right care. These journeys remind us that early screening makes all the difference.
Heartwarming testimonial from one of the attendees of the cancer camp: Sireesha -
"This is a very useful medical camp at Vikas Tarangini. I am happy to be here and take part in it. This camp is very helpful for women. Even women without symptoms can benefit from attending. Many people avoid checkups because of fear, but this camp gives them a good opportunity to get tested. They can find out if there is any problem and understand their health better. I also used to feel scared and unsure, but now I feel satisfied and reassured after attending."
