Sandy Storm Disaster Relief - Immediate Response
VT Seva-NJ is partnering with Community food bank of NJ to help victims of hurricane sandy. The registered volunteers for Sunday morning Nov 11th, 9 AM - 12 PM will help in the preparation of Sandwiches at Foodbank - 31 Evans Terminal Hillside NJ. 
 
VT Seva Washington DC contributed funds to American Red Cross towards immediate relief from the super storm Sandy. You can support our relief efforts by clicking here.

Cancer Awareness Walkathon - Strong support from local community in Battle against Cancer
Dallas team successfully organized Cancer Awareness Walkathon - "Walk for Life" with the purpose of spreading cancer awareness among the community. The walk was held on Oct 20th 2012 commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a sunny morning and around 300 people (~100 youngsters) assembled at Russell Creek Park, Plano, TX to support the cause. Click for more details, pictures and videos.
UTSAV - Educate and Empower the entire School for Visually Challenged, Vizianagaram, AP, India
Seattle team organized UTSAV on Oct 6th 2012 to celebrate the success of visually challenged students from Netravidyalaya at Vizianagaram, AP, India. The school was awarded the  Best in India at the sports and cultural meet organized by National Association for the Blind in Mumbai. The Seattle team raised awareness and funds to educate all the students (108) of school and towards improving the school infrastructure. Volleyball Tournament - Sport meets Service
VT Seva volunteer group of Albany, New York in association with Albany Telugu Association has successfully conducted the Volleyball Tournament to raise awareness and funds to support the education and empowerment of visually challenged students. Click for more details and pictures.

Walk for Visually Challenged
Boston Walkathon With the motivation from the Netra Vidyalaya students excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities, Boston team organized 2nd Annual 5K Walkathon on Aug 26th 2012 at Hopkinton State Park, MA.to support the education of Visually Challenged students. Youth Led Walkathon - A meaningful farewell to 2012
On the occasion of farewell to the year 2012 and extending a hearty welcome to the year 2013, youth volunteer teams of Hyderabad, Vizianagaram, Vizag and many other places of AP are organizing a Walkathon on Dec 30th 2012 focusing on -
  • Srama Danam - Clean & Green the local communities
  • Create awareness about Organ Donation and spread the message of 'donating organs of their beloved (old or young)' to people in need, thus extending the life of their beloved. One departed person's organs can support minimum of 9 lives - 2 kidneys, 2 lungs, 1 liver, 1 heart, 2 eyes, 1 pancreas etc.
  • Youth empowerment - To utilize their money, time and energy to empower themselves to SERVE the nation  
VT Seva CEO launches Greeen Kumbh, a 700 miles non-motorized travel covering 20 to 30 Million People
On Oct 15th 2012, VT Seva CEO HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji launched "Green Kumbh Yatra", a unique pilgrimage that will travel across various countries to highlight the importance of conserving biodiversity. The 700 mile non-motorized travel (to raise awareness by covering 20 to 30 million people) was started by HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji by handing over a brass pitcher containing pearls to Dr. Braulio Ferrriera de Souza Dias, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Honoring Organ Donor Families & Release of Educational Film on Organ Donation
On Oct 26th 2012, The event was organized by Mohan Foundation (Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network) Hyderabad. VT Seva CEO HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji released an Educational Film on Organ Donation. Dignitaries attended were Managing Trustee of Mohan Foundation Dr. Sunil Shroff, Dr Ravindranath of Global Hospitals, Chairman of Santha Biotech Dr. Varaprasad and world famous Indian cricket player VVS Laxman who honored the donor families. Youth Leadership - Engagement of youth to Service
Because of the awareness raised by VT Seva volunteers in India as part of the Chase Community Giving Campaign, many students from MVGR Engineering College, Boddu Krishna Arts College, M.R.P.G. College and other colleges were inspired by our service activities. They have visited our Netravidyalaya on Sep 26th to learn about our school. A local youth team "Help a hand in need" joined Yuva Vikas (VT Seva Youth team) and pledged support. Read more.
