Dance For A Cure
Boston team is organizing 'Dance for a Cure' event to raise cancer awareness and to support screenings & treatments.





'Dance for a Cure' is an evening filled with performances representing cultures ranging from the East to the West. The evening will culminate with sumptuous food. Henna and Face painting at the event will bring smiles to kids and adults. For details and tickets, click here.

VT Seva supports the schools established in rural areas once infested by extremist activities, where even government officials feared to step in! VT Seva supports 2 schools for tribal communities at Allampalli and Birsaipeta, Adilabad district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. VT Seva has not only been supporting the education of 775 students but has also been building infrastructure to transform the thandas (tribal settlements). Tribal communities living in remote forests of Adilabad district regularly face water crisis during summer months. VT Seva Dallas team has taken up the project for water retention and better agriculture facilities in Allampalli. VT Seva believes that providing education to the students and better living facilities to the families, generations can be improved in tribal communities. For event details and tickets, click here.

Bone Marrow Drives
Seattle team in partnership with SAMAR has organized Bone Marrow Drives in Bothell and Sammamish on March 9th and 10 the respectively. Around 200 people have come forward on the site and many more have expressed interest in pursuing it.
 
Due to the positive response of community and need for more awareness, another drive is planned for April 13th.
Monthly Health Education Series
Houston team is organizing monthly health education series at Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple Event Hall. The purpose of this event to is to be able to educate the community on various relevant topics in health. This event is free to the public.
 
A seminar on 'Weight Management and Nutrition - A Medical and Holistic approach' was done in February. 'Cancer Screening and Prevention' is on April 6th 2013. For more details, please click here.

Feeding America
Tampa team engaged Middle/High school Students in volunteering for a good cause on March 16th. The volunteers took part in packing the food and organizing it to help distribute the food packets by 'Feeding America of Tampa Bay' across Florida.

With the enthusiasm of all the volunteers, especially youth, the team has decided to continue this activity on regular basis.

Other News
VT Seva teams throughout the US observe Earth Day on annual basis and organize local activities/events in month of April.

VT Seva teams throughout US serve homeless shelters and Food banks on regular basis. Bay Area team received a gold rating award for service to Second Harvest Food Bank. Washington DC team is conducting a Toys, Books, Clothes & Shoe Drive on April 7th. Few more activities are being planned in NJ, PA, Bay Area, Detroit and other places. Stay tuned for more details.

JIMS Hospital Opening
The 80 bed state-of-the-art JIMS Hospital was opened to public by Founder HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji at the sprawling JIVA Campus just 10 km from Samshabad International Airport, Hyderabad. The Hospital offers a unique combination of Homeopathy & Allopathy in treating patients from ailments. Together We Care - Multi Organ Donation Awareness
On the occasion of farewell to the year 2012 and extending a hearty welcome to the year 2013, more than 50,000 youth volunteers of Hyderabad, Warangal, Vizianagaram, Vizag, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Srikakulam and many other places of AP have organized a very successful Walkathon on Dec 30th 2012 focusing on -
 
 
  • Create awareness about Organ Donation and spread the message of 'donating organs of their beloved (old or young)' to people in need, thus extending the life of their beloved. One departed person's organs can support minimum of 9 lives - 2 kidneys, 2 lungs, 1 liver, 1 heart, 2 eyes, 1 pancreas etc.
  • Youth empowerment - To utilize their money, time and energy to empower themselves to SERVE the nation.
On the same day i.e. 30th Dec 2012, as the program started Mr. M.S.S.R.Varma ( VT central committee Joint Secretary) came to know the demise of his father-in-law. His spouse Mrs Shireesha Varma took an initiative and coordinated with her mother and brother and donated the eyes of her father (Late D.V.R.K.Raju) to L.V.Prasad eye institute.
