For $10 you can place a poinsettia in the sanctuary. The flowers will be in place on Sunday the 18th. What a great way to accompany the choir and orchestra! The flowers make the sanctuary special for Sunday and for the Christmas Eve services. Order forms will be in the bulletin this Sunday, or click HERE to buy now. Make sure you order before December 14th.
BLUE CHRISTMAS IN THE GRAND AT CARLYLE
We know that Advent can be a season of immense joy. Advent can be a season of laughter, hope, and loved ones gathered together. Advent can be a season of light, fireplaces, and candles in windows.
However, for many, Advent can also be a season of grief. Advent and the coming of Christmas day can be a month-long walk down memory lane that leaves us aching, a series of traditions that just don’t fit anymore.
This year, Carlyle Place asked Vineville to prepare a service that acknowledged and made space for those for whom the Christmas season would be more blue than merry and bright. Teresa, Jon, and Cannon will be leading this service, and it will be held on December 14th at 3 pm at Carlyle Place in The Grande. All are welcome to come and participate.

IRA Required Minimum Distribution
I am neither an account or a tax advisor. Let’s get that out of the way from the very beginning. I don’t want to pretend to be more knowledgeable than I am. What I do know is that many of our members have reached the age where they must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from their Individual Retirement Accounts. After age 70 1/2, regardless of if you need it to live on, you must take the required distribution. What you may not be aware of is that you can make your financial gift to Vineville as part of your RMD. The advantage to doing that is that it will not be counted as taxable income to you. Under The American Taxpayer Relief Act, those who are 70½ or older can donate as much as $100,000 per year from their individual retirement accounts directly to eligible charities. Qualified distributions are not counted as taxable income to you, meaning that the donation from your IRA does not raise your adjusted gross income in a way that could trigger higher Medicare premiums or taxes on Social Security benefits. We have numerous members who already take advantage of this tax-reducing way of making a contribution.

To make a charitable gift from your IRA account, please contact your IRA plan administrator to transfer your desired amount directly to Vineville. Current rules stipulate that the funds must be transferred directly through your plan administrator to the church. They cannot pass through your hands or account. I am sure we all want to do our part to support the work of the government, but none of us wants to pay any extra! This is a tax-advantageous way to support the life-changing ministries that take place here.
Peace,
COMING UP...
SEARCHING FOR A CHURCH PUBLICIST
Although Jenna Claire Gilmer has only been here a few months, she has become a beloved member of our support staff as Church Publicist. She will be getting married in January and will be moving to Tennessee where her fiancé has accepted a job with the Tennessee Titans. Jenna Claire leaves big shoes to fill and will be greatly missed.

Since Jenna Claire is leaving, the church is now searching for a new Church Publicist. This full-time position, with benefits, would include but is not limited to; preparing, formatting, and printing weekly Sunday bulletins; creating, formatting, and sending the weekly online and printed church newsletter; preparing and printing regular and bulk mailings. This person would also create church posters, banners, and online publications. He/she would also assist the pastor and other staff members with correspondence and other church-related needs. Computer software skills with programs like Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, and Canva are required. This person would also need to have an understanding of printers and copiers. People skills and being a team player are also a must.
