January 18, 2023
This Sunday, Reese and I will be hosting Confirmation Orientation at 4:30 in the dining room. We are excited about getting started with confirmation and invite our 6th graders and their parents to join us. We will share with them all that confirmation entails: what confirmation actually is, what we do, where we go. and how we have fun together.

Reese and I love this part of ministry, but we realize we cannot do this alone. Our 6th-grade students need your help. Each confirmand is paired with a mentor—a prayer partner of sorts—and one thing you can do is, if you are asked to be a mentor for confirmation, say, “Yes!” This is a great way to nurture the faith of a confirmand and form a meaningful relationship with a youth that lasts far beyond this season. In fact, studies show that many teenagers go without having a positive adult influence other than a parent. We have the chance to flip the script within our own faith community and make a deep and meaningful impact.

We look forward to Confirmation Orientation this Sunday and can’t wait to get started on the 29th!

SAVE THE DATE FOR SUMMER FUN
It is not too early to start planning, so make sure to mark your calendars for a great summer of fun with Vineville's children's ministry. We will start off the summer with Hero Hotline VBS from June 12-16. Our Heroes (or kids) will be called together to serve God using all of their special and unique talents.

Later in June, preschoolers will come for a Tell Me the Stories of the Bible camp. This camp will take place June 26-29 and is for children ages 2K-5K.

Finally, we'll finish the summer with lots of competition at our Summer Sports Camp. We will play a different sport or game each day and learn what it really means to be a teammate both in sports and in our Christian journey. Stay tuned in the Vine and children's newsletter for information about when and how to sign up.

PRAYING FOR OUR POPCORN KIDS!
As the new year eases on in, put your popcorn kids on your prayer list again! The holidays are over, and the hard work of school returned. Ask God daily to make a way for them, give them what they need, open their mind and heart to new learnings and, most of all, to the love of Christ. These boys and girls, students of all ages, will be blessed by your prayers and care for them. If you want to make them feel extra special, consider getting some Valentine cards to send their way in February. Whatever you do, let us unite our hearts in prayer for the children of Vineville UMC. What a gift they are to us and to the world!
Joining you in prayer,
PRINT AND SOCIAL MEDIA POSITION
The church is searching for a new Print and Social Media Designer. This full-time position, with benefits, would include but is not limited to preparing, formatting, and printing weekly Sunday bulletins; creating, formatting, and sending the weekly online and printed church newsletter; preparing and printing regular and bulk mailings. This person would also create church posters, banners, and online publications. He/she would also assist the pastor and other staff members with correspondence and other church-related needs. Computer software skills with programs like Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, and Canva are required. This person would also need to have an understanding of printers and copiers. People skills and being a team player are also a must.

A Young Adult Men's Study

We will conveniently meet during the children’s choir rehearsal from January 18 - February 1 from 6 pm-7 pm in the conference room of the office suite.

The Corinthian Conversation

Sundays, January 22 - February 26
6 pm -7:30 pm

Online with Ebby Arnold from The Candler Foundry.

In this six-week course, we explore the issues that the church in Corinth faced and the Apostle Paul’s conversations with them. We also look at the particulars of the situations and how Paul consistently emphasizes the “big picture”—the Corinthians’ embodiment of Jesus. This course will also look beyond the issues to the emotional relationship between Paul and the church in crisis and how they can offer support and guidance to the church in our context as the church navigates the particular conflicts of the 21st century.

Register by January 22nd by clicking here.
