Join us in welcoming our new Associate Pastor Rev. Teresa Edwards. Teresa joins the Vineville team on July 18th. We thought you might want to learn a little bit more about her.
Name:
Teresa Love Edwards
Before I got married, my full name was Teresa Hope Love and everyone always said something like: You should have been named Faith or you should have been named Charity. Strangely enough, I dropped the Hope to keep the Love.
What is your position at the church? What does it entail? My role will be as associate pastor with a focus on congregational care, adult spiritual formation, and worship. Of course, over the years of ministry, I have learned that the little line that says, "all other duties deemed necessary," could mean anything, so I look forward to a few surprises too.
What are your hobbies? Things I love to do or do a lot: knit, read, work out at Orangetheory, watch ridiculous T.V. and shop for shoes!
Tell us a little about your family. That's a loaded question! You only want to know a "little" about my family? My family is such a gift to me. John and I have been married for 25 years. We met in college at Armstrong State College in Savannah. Our amazing daughter Corinne just turned 21 this summer. She will be a senior at Georgia Southern majoring in psychology. We also have two cats: Piper and Archie. Piper hates Archie, but Archie loves Piper.
What's the best vacation you've been on? Over the years, the Edwards family has loved a Disney Cruise. We have traveled to Key West, Mexico, St. Thomas, and St. Martin together. It's the most fun, relaxing, and delish journey ever.
What attracted you to Vineville or what is your favorite thing about Vineville? I tell people that I feel like Vineville and I have been flirting with each other for a decade. It's been my joy to teach, preach, and meet with the staff over the years for spiritual formation. The laity I have met are kind, engaged, and committed to the church and Christ. It just felt like the timing was finally right to move in and share life with Vineville UMC.
Do you have any good family traditions? Yes! On your birthday you get a cupcake for breakfast. Who doesn't want a cupcake for breakfast?
If you could choose anything to do for a day, what would it be? Sleep late, go to Float Robins for a 90-minute float, lunch with friends, a little shopping, and a yummy dinner cooked by my husband at home.
What are a few of your favorite books and/or movies? Such a hard question! My very favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally with Under the Tuscan Sun coming in a close second. Books - how much time do you have?
What’s a little-known fact about you that might surprise readers? On more than one occasion, I have been known to break out into a song that fits the moment or mood. I am certain you will witness this during our time together.
Where are you from originally? Port Wentworth, Ga (on the west side of Savannah)
Anything else we need to know? I love shoes and have a huge collection. At my last appointment on Sunday mornings, people always looked at my shoes before they greeted me! I won't admit to how many pairs I own unless I am under oath.
