So let me introduce to you a new ministry project to do just that: Caring Times Three!

What is Caring Times Three? Simply put, it’s care offered in three simple yet powerful ways.

Cards:
Everyone loves to get personal mail. We are looking for individuals that would send cards or notes each month to encourage and lift up those who can not be physically present with us here at VUMC.

Calls:
Whether on the phone or in person, it always brings joy to the day to hear the voice of someone saying you matter, someone is thinking of you, and your church loves you and prays for you regularly.  We are looking for individuals who will take a few minutes out of their day to call someone and check in with them on behalf of their church.

Casseroles:
Everyone has a day where they are overwhelmed with offering care, responsibilities, an unexpected emergency, or health issues. Our casserole team will meet together and prepare homemade comfort foods like lasagna or chicken pot pie in addition to a simple dessert which will be frozen in family-sized care packages.

These meals will be delivered when someone needs a warm and encouraging gift on a hard day, during a difficult season, or as a simple reminder that they are loved. You don’t have to be a great chef (although many of you are) but someone who loves to join with others to make someone’s day better, easier, and brighter. We are looking for individuals who will help prepare and deliver meals.

Of course, while these are not new ideas, the idea of combining these efforts to reach out and stay connected will bring a new sense of life to our caring ministry.

During this season of Lent, these are three simple and powerful avenues we can serve one another through the love of Christ. Please contact Teresa Edwards if you feel led to express your caring to others in these wonderful ways.

Caring Times Three needs you! Join us in ministry together.
CONFIRMATION RETREAT LEAVES FRIDAY
Confirmation Retreat

This Friday, a group of confirmands and chaperones will travel to Epworth by the Sea for the South Georgia Conference Confirmation Retreat. Our confirmands will join about 500 others from across South Georgia for a weekend of worship, learning and fun. The Bishop will join other Conference Staff as part of the weekend. I invite you to join me in praying for them. Pray for safety in travel, great fun, and meaningful worship. We have included the names so that you will have them handy as you pray.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER
Rise Against Hunger

One of our favorite mission projects is meal packing for Rise Up Against Hunger. This annual event is full of fun, work, and satisfaction. One of the great things about this night is that in two hours or less, we can feed 12,000 people. There are very few opportunities to have that kind of impact with that little time commitment.

Another thing I love is that it is an intergenerational activity. Young and the not-so-young alike stand side by side and meet the needs of hungry men, women, and children. In the midst of work and laughter, there is fellowship and community. I think it is good for us and I know it is good for the over 12,000 folks who will be fed because of it.

We will pack meals on Wednesday, March 15 at 6:15. Pizza will be available at 5:15. You can eat when you get here. We will crank up the music and the assembly line at 6:15. The meal and event are free, but we need reservations. We actually need two reservations. We need a count for dinner, you can let us know this at the church by calling or responding on Realm.

Rise Against Hunger also requires registration for the event. Both links are included here to make it easy for you. Take care of it right now, while you are thinking about it.

Make your reservations and join us for a night of fun and mission as we Rise Against Hunger!

Peace,
