We got a good start on our canned food collection. For the whole month, we are collecting canned goods for the UMC mission on Houston Avenue. They serve a large number of people in need. We can’t end hunger everywhere, but we can make a difference in this community! I am bringing 12 cans a week. What about you? Let’s can hunger!

Last Sunday we began a month-long project supporting sailors on the USS Dwight Eisenhower. During long deployments, particularly over the holidays, morale can dip and depression becomes an additional battle to fight. We can help by writing letters of appreciation and encouragement. Pick up an instruction sheet this week to see how you can help. It won’t take but a few minutes and it seems it is the least we can do to encourage those who are defending our freedom. We still have some t-shirts from our Sunday Service day. I learned recently that a couple of people didn’t get one or gave theirs away. Call the office or grab one of us on Sunday. Not every size is available, but most are. I would love to have them walking around town rather than sitting in a box!
