All Saints Day

This Sunday we will observe All Saints Sunday at Vineville. This is a joyous and tender time for us to remember those who have died in the past year. For many, there is a strong sense of grief and loss, but there is also hope and joy. Like every Sunday, we will gather at 9:00 and 11:00 to celebrate the grace and love of God. As is our tradition on the first Sunday of the month, we will have Holy Communion. As part of our celebration of our saints, we will light candles while naming those who now celebrate around the throne of grace. In addition to naming church members, there will also be a time for each of us to name others who have been important to us individually. While the list below only includes church members, the sanctuary will be full of sacred memories of others as we gather for worship. We gather to celebrate the life and witness of all who have impacted us. We gather to give thanks for all of God’s gifts, for we have been blessed by these and others on our journey.

These are the names of our local saints that will be read on Sunday.

I hope that you will make a special effort to attend this Sunday as we celebrate the lives of our local saints. To me, this is one of the most sacred days in the life of a local church. We gather to remember and give thanks.

See you Sunday!

I AM GLAD YOU ASKED
Are the speaker stands permanent?

The sanctuary renovation project is nearly complete. There are just a few small things to tidy up, but there is one significant item. The new speakers that will be mounted on the wall are delayed, so the answer to the most asked question of October is no, the speaker stands on the floor are not permanent. Thankfully, David Wood and GNTV had some speakers they could loan us until ours arrive. We had been promised mid to late September, which then became October 13th, and that is now early December. It will be worth the wait; so we will just work around the speakers on the floor stands until the new ones get here.

WHAT WE NEED- COULD IT BE YOU?
It takes all of us doing our part for the church to function to the best of its ability. Vineville can’t be all it can be until we all find and fill the place that matches our unique gifts and talents. This is an ongoing process. As our life situations, experiences, and interests change, our best place of service may also change. On top of that, our availability and even mobility can impact our ability to serve.

We are looking for somebody to serve as the Volunteer Coordinator at Vineville. This person's job is not to recruit volunteers for every project or function. Rather, the focus for the Volunteer Coordinator is collecting information from members about what they are good at and using this information to help them find a place of service. Part of it is data management; knowing who among us has a green thumb is helpful when we have a yard or garden issue so that we get the right people on the job. Another part of the job is getting new members plugged into Vineville. This could include sending a letter with a survey of interests to new members as a first step toward getting them engaged in a meaningful way.

Very little, if any, of the work has to be done at church or at a certain time. The office staff will support this volunteer in any way they need by printing, mailing, etc. Does helping people get connected to the work of God at Vineville excite you? Then you could be what we need. If you want to talk about it, have questions, or an idea of somebody who would be perfect let me know.
