Has Your Electric Bill

Gone Up?

Electricity Rate Changes & the Chicago Power Calculator

After recent rate changes, Chicago consumers are wondering whether the City's electricity deal with Integrys is still right for them.

The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) and the City have collaborated to create the Chicago Power Calculator to helps consumers determine whether they should stick with Integrys or return to ComEd for their electricity supply this summer.

Dear Friends,

As I  discussed in a May newsletter, a number of neighbors joined me for a court appearance to express concerns about some persistently vacant storefronts on Clark Street.

At this hearing, the court ordered all property owners to cooperate with the City of Chicago's Department of Buildings to make improvements, as many had been consistently vacant.

I'm pleased to report new tenants have now moved into a previously vacant storefront.  A big welcome to Elle Val, which is a new women's clothing stare at 2320 N. Clark Street. Make sure to pay a visit to the owners of this unique store,  Lauren and Lexy Vallortigara!

Our next court date is August 22 at 11am in courtroom 1105 at the Daley Center. Please let me know that you'll join so we can continue to bring tenants, like Elle Val, to vacant storefronts.
Burling and Stockton Resurfaced

I am happy to report the recent resurfacing of several streets in our ward:
  • Burling Street, between Fullerton Parkway and Wrightwood Avenue
  • Stockton Drive, between LaSalle Drive and Webster Place
  • Stockton Drive, between Cannon Drive and Fullerton Parkway

The following pictures show the pre-construction condition and the post-construction condition of these streets. Given the significant deterioration that these streets experienced - due in large part to the winter weather conditions caused by the Polar Vortex - I authorized the use of my Aldermanic Menu Fund to expedite these repairs this summer and I am happy to have been able to get these repairs completed in a timely manner.

There are a number of other resurfacing and infrastructure enhancements planned over the coming months, and I will continue to keep you informed as these projects are completed!

Sincerely,
