Shane and Shane! This Sunday!
The Arkive: Ark and Dove's Newsletter
You're invited to be inspired this Sunday! Faure's Libera Me from Requiem at the 9:30 (choir led) worship service and Psalms Live by Shane and Shane at the 11:00 (band led) service.
Message from Pastor Tim
Dear Friends and Members of Ark and Dove Church,

I want to say thank you to Rebecca Bell Echols, Mark Edwards, David Degge and Eric Echols for the beautiful and inspiring palate of music they shared at both services last week. It was a wonderful gift to our worship.

Steve Debus and I led a four week discussion on stewardship with about eight members of the Ark and Dove Community in May. One of the things the group said to Steve and I, was that they felt there was not enough communication with the congregation about stewardship topics. We mentioned that the 2018 budget was a modest step backwards from 2017, and they wanted that shared. In that spirit, there is also a stewardship article below about the state of this year's giving.

On a very positive note, congregational giving to One Great Hour of Sharing was a whopping $4000.00, or so, in March/April. Thank you for your generosity.  One Great Hour of Sharing accomplishes so much good work thanks to you.

This Sunday there will be special music by the band at 11:00, see Mark's letter below. I am looking forward to their interpretation of the Psalms of Shane and Shane.

May Christ's peace grant you rest and re-creation this weekend,
Verse and Prayer
God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation. - Genesis 1:31-2:3
A Sunday Evening Prayer
As you have made this day, O God,
you also make the night.
Give light for our comfort.
Come upon us with quietness and still our souls,
that we may listen for the whisper of your Spirit
and be attentive to your nearness in our dreams.
Empower us to rise again in new life
to proclaim your praise,
and show Christ to the world,
for he reigns forever and ever. Amen.

Notes for you!
This Sunday at the 9:30 service, the choir will sing an excerpt from one of the movements of Faure’s “Requiem.” Next week, June 10th, we will have a single service at 10:00 to present our children’s musical, “Oh, Jonah!" On June 17, the adult choir and orchestra will present Faure’s “Requiem” at the 9:30 service. This will be my final Sunday with Ark and Dove and there will be a luncheon following the 11:00 service. I hope that you can be there to help celebrate our many wonderful years together.

This Sunday, June 3, at the 11:00 service, the music extravaganza continues with the band presentation of Shane and Shane's setting of 13 psalms. Each of these fantastic settings either brings new melodies to these iconic texts, or has a fresh new take on a well-known melody. The four settings we chose for this week are:

We hope you will join us this Sunday!
Financial Planning for the Ministry Year
Each year the session of Ark and Dove creates a financial plan for the ministry year. Before the session does this, it asks every household to fill out a pledge card.  A majority of our households pledge and even more give by EFT. So the session has some solid numbers, but they always have to make educated predictions about what the silent givers will give.

As of April 30, the session was expecting to receive about: $165,000
As of April 30, the church has received about: $155,000
