VACAVILLE, Calif. - VACAVILLE, Calif. – The City of Vacaville was pleased to have more than 80 community members participate at the Community Policing Forum on June 22. As part of the preparation for the event and during the forum itself, the City solicited questions, however with such great dialogue time ran short. The responses to questions, a video of the forum and other information is available on the City website at CityofVacaville.gov/PolicingForum.

It was important to the City that every question was answered in as much thoughtful clarity as possible. Though, it is important to note there are some more subjective questions that leave them open to several interpretations which solicit a need for further dialogue.

“A community that is engaged, informed, and working in partnership with the members of the Police Department and other city staff, builds trust and leads to a more vibrant, safe place to live, work, and play,” said Police Chief Ian Schmutzler. “Engagement opportunities are some of the best means by which we create the bonds and relationships between citizens, and the men and women who are sworn to protect them and improve their quality of life.”

The City looks forward to expanding on the first Community Policing Forum with Part II scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 2022, 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Three Oaks Community Center, 1100 Alamo Drive. Please register as the City wants to ensure there is adequate space for all those who wish to attend, CityofVacaville.gov/PoliceForumSignup. Participants are encouraged to submit questions via the registration link which will help inform the City on topic areas for discussion during this Community Policing Forum Part II. The event will include a recap on Part I and responses to the questions, break out table discussion with Vacaville Police Department representatives, and Q&A.

We are looking forward to your participation in this important dialogue to address community policing with an equity, diversity and inclusion lens.
