Vacca Family Law Group - New York Divorce Attorney

Welcome to the July 2024 edition of the Vacca Family Law Group newsletter.

This month's newsletter is all about co-parenting and prioritizing children's well-being in divorce. We cover a variety of topics, including discussing your divorce with your children, the benefits of Collaborative Divorce for families with children, and even tips on how to share custody of the family pet.

In our featured article, we break down the pros and cons of "Nesting" during divorce, a growing trend by which divorcing parents take turns moving in and out of the family home rather than the children moving back and forth between homes.

Read on for links to additional resources on other topics related to co-parenting, custody, and child support, and to catch up on the latest episodes of A Better Divorce Podcast!

What is Nesting in Divorce?

Kids often bounce between homes during divorce, but another co-parenting approach is gaining traction: Nesting. The idea is that the kids stay put in the family home while the parents take turns moving in and out rather than the other way around.

While nesting makes sense for many families, this unique parenting approach isn't for everyone. There are both pros and cons that divorcing parents should think about before committing to this arrangement. In this blog, we discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and other considerations of nesting for families with children going through separation.
