There are 3 exemptions that need to be renewed on an annual basis:

· Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities

Required Documents
Each exemption requires the property be their principal residence.
To Qualify for the Senior Citizen’s Assessment Freeze:
Be 65 years of age or older.
Have a total household income of $65,000 or less in 2020.
Provide your 2020 tax return, 1040 or 1040SR for 2020
To Qualify for the Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities
Provide a copy of your Illinois Disabled Person Identification Card or
Provide Proof of Social Security Administration Social Security Benefits or
A completed PTAX-343-A Form, Physician’s Statement
To Qualify for the Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities
Provide documentation from the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs for the current assessment year, 2021, stating the service-connected disability.
