Holiday Shipping Update
Please plan accordingly as there will be limited shipping of state-supplied vaccines in November and December.
  • No shipments will be sent from November 22-24, 2023.
  • There are no vaccine shipments in the last two weeks of December. Please place your vaccine order by December 8, 2023 to receive the vaccines before the holiday shipment shut downs. Orders placed after December 8, 2023, will not be expected to arrive until January 2024.
  • Depending on volume of orders placed after December 8, 2023 shipments may not be received until the second week of January 2024.
  • When placing your December order, please plan ahead to ensure your site has enough vaccine to last until the second week of January 2024.
  • Normal shipping hours will resume on January 2, 2024.
2023-2024 Influenza Vaccine Supply
Refer to the table below, for which Flu vaccine formulations are available to order in the MIIS.
Flucelvax (NDC: 70461-0323-03) is no longer available to order. If a Flucelvax is needed for a patient with an egg allergy, please contact the vaccine unit.

Please continue to order as much flu vaccine as needed to meet the needs of your practice population. As a reminder, all orders must be submitted by your site directly into the MIIS, as there will be no automatic orders or shipments.

Important Reminders:
  • Account for state-supplied flu vaccines by reporting data directly to the MIIS registry. It is a requirement that all vaccinations must be reported into the MIIS within 3 days of administration to the patient.
  • Place flu vaccine orders as frequently as needed.
  • Ensure that your site has enough space in your refrigerator to store the doses of flu vaccine your order.
  • For help placing your flu orders in the MIIS, view the New Flu Order - Mini Guide.
Nirsevimab Ordering Update
With the continuation of the national supply chain shortage of the nirsevimab products (Sanofi and AstraZeneca), Beyfortus 100mg (NDC: 49281-0574-15) and Beyfortus 50mg (NDC: 49281-0575-15), no additional doses of either product can be requested in the MIIS through the end of this RSV season.

Update on Beyfortus 50mg (NDC: 49281-0575-15):
  • MDPH will receive a limited supply of additional doses of Beyfortus 50mg in the coming weeks, which will be allocated to birthing hospitals
  • Once additional supply is distributed, MDPH will not receive any additional doses of Beyfortus 50mg until Fall of 2024.
  • The Vaccine Management Unit will also be reaching out to select provider sites that currently have Beyfortus 50mg in their MIIS inventory, to set up redistribution of a portion of those doses to birthing hospitals.

Update on Beyfortus 100mg (NDC: 49281-0574-15):
  • MDPH will not be receiving any additional doses of Beyfortus 100mg until Fall of 2024.
  • Beyfortus 100mg (NDC: 49281-0574-15) will not be redistributed at this time.
  • If your site anticipates not using all of your 100mg supply this season, please reach out to the Vaccine Management Unit so we may redistribute those doses to sites in need.

On October 23, CDC issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory to provide options for clinicians to protect infants from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), because of the limited supply of nirsevimab. Please read the full HAN Advisory for more details, including background information, recommendations for the public, and resources.

Do not split or double doses to get to the correct dosage size. Providers should not vaccinate a baby over 5 kg with two doses of the 50 mg nirsevimab, to equal the 100 mg dose of nirsevimab or vaccinate a baby under 5kg with a half dose of the 100 mg nirsevimab product.
COVID-19 Vaccine Ordering Update
Refer to the table below, for which COVID-19 vaccine formulations are available to order in the MIIS.
***All sites that receive VFC vaccines are required to have COVID vaccines in their inventory to offer to patients. If your site has not ordered Pediatric COVID vaccine, please do so immediately to stay in compliance with programmatic requirements. ***

Sites are required to keep all packing slips for vaccine shipments, including Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine shipments (Pfizer 6m-4y, Pfizer 5y-11y and COMIRNATY +12y). Pfizer packing slips are currently appearing as stickers on the inside flap of the shipment container. To stay in compliance with programmatic guidelines, please take picture of the packing slip sticker and save the picture in your records (either digitally or a print out). Packing slips are not required to be sent to the Vaccine Management Unit for Moderna vaccine orders, but they must be kept on file at your site.
End of Daylight Savings Time
Daylight Savings Time ended on November 5, 2023. Please update the time on all your digital data logger devices. Refer to this Video Tutorial for a reminder on how to update the time on the device.
Helpful Reminders
  • Always include your PIN/Site Number and a contact number when emailing or faxing the Vaccine Management Unit.
  • Sites are required to upload temperature logs into the MIIS monthly. State-Supplied Digital Data Loggers only keep 56 days of temperature data. To ensure that the temperature data isn't lost, it is the best practice to upload monthly. If your site orders monthly, you only need to upload temp logs once with your order.
