- Tetanus
- *Meningococcal meningitis
- *Hepatitis B
Other communicable diseases requiring immunizations as determined by the Florida DOH via administrative rules include:
- Hepatitis B

- Pneumococcal Conjugate
How is the FAFP Responding?
FAFP leadership met with Florida House and Senate leadership September 9-10 in Orlando and stressed the importance of maintaining Florida’s laws and rules that require immunizations and maintain quality public health in Florida. The FAFP’s insights and concerns regarding the consequences of reversing vaccine requirements currently in statute (i.e., promoting preventable childhood diseases) were greatly appreciated by the legislative leadership. Furthermore, the FAFP was assured that family medicine would have a seat at the table if the issue were to move forward.
On September 10, the Florida DOH Division of Disease Control published a notice of rulemaking to “update the immunization and document requirements for school entry." The FAFP, in conjunction with the FL Chapter of ACP, responded immediately by jointly filing a request for workshop on the rule with the intent of providing expert testimony in opposition to changing existing rules that require immunizations for the four communicable diseases listed above.
More information will be provided as soon as it is available, but rest assured the FAFP is actively engaged in advocating for the importance of immunizations for children.
