Essential COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Kids

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a detrimental effect on our community. We are saddened by the loss of Derrick Watson, a student at Leadership Academy for Young Men. We also send condolences to the family and friends of 14-year-old Julius Greer, Jr. who lost his life this weekend.

As we keep the well-being of our children top of mind, we want to get vaccine information into the hands of parents so they can make sure their children are protected against the harmful impacts of this virus.

Meet Ana, the COVID-19 Vaccine Information Bot

Click below for a great poster resource developed as a collaborative effort by the Association of University Centers on Disabilities. This series of posters help to answer questions regarding COVID-19 vaccination. The posters feature a QR code linking the user to 'Ana,' the COVID-19 Vaccine Information Bot. Ana allows users to select common concerns and questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and access resources using the chat feature. Ana is available in English and Spanish.

Tune in to your local radio program to hear how we are shifting power to parents

StriveTogether recently released a community engagement spectrum leveraging tools developed by Cradle to Career partnerships across the nation. This spectrum was adapted with the intention of helping network members work toward creating equity in their communities by including those most impacted by decisions in decision making power. It serves as a guide and resource to ensure youth and family voices have institutionalized power and that the systems that seek their marginalization are acknowledged and dismantled.

ROC the Future is working to ensure all partners evaluate where they are on the community engagement spectrum and ensure they are moving towards shifting power. Additionally, we have launched a parent survey to hear directly from parents about what they need to improve outcomes for their kids.

We want to take their feedback to identify the essential elements of successful learning environments for their children, decide on priority actions and inform funding priorities.

We are taking our message to the airwaves. Tune in to the first leg of our radio program tour to hear from Willie Robinson, Jr., Family and Community Engagement Manager with ROC the Future, as we discuss our efforts to shift power to parents.
