Dear MBUSD Families,

Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention formally endorsed the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for children ages 5 through 11. Just after that, the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup provided approval for the vaccine. This follows last Tuesday’s approval by the Food and Drug Administration of a lower dose of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11.

In advance of these final approvals, MBUSD has been working with Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) to develop plans for vaccine clinics. BCHD has been a wonderful partner during COVID and is working directly with sites in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach to host school pop-up clinics starting November 8. Here are three important resources:

  1. The full schedule, which includes nine total opportunities for Beach City families to get a first dose vaccine at a BCHD clinic, can be found here
  2. You can register for an appointment at https://myturn.ca.gov/clinic.html - Appointments & walk-ins will open up soon and will increase in the coming days.
  3. More information about clinic registration, maps and FAQs will be available at www.bchd.org/schoolvaccines

This information and any updates will be part of this Friday’s Superintendent’s Newsletter.

Thank you,
