Project Update
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) inspection has been completed and the City's contractor, Lambrian Construction, will begin abatement and demolition of the Vail Court property on Tuesday, October 9 th .

Once demolition begins, the work is expected to take 2 weeks to remove the buildings followed by the removal of the foundations.

MassDEP and City of Cambridge have issued permits for this work. The process to demolish this building is in full compliance with MassDEP and daily air quality results will be sent to them for monitoring. We do still recommend closing your windows during construction activity to minimize noise impacts. Vibration monitoring is presently on-site and will record construction activity throughout the demolition process. 

The City’s Inspectional Services Department has been closely monitoring rodent activity in the area and has taken all necessary control measures to limit activity during the demolition process. To report rodent issues, contact Dave Power at 617-349-6119.

What to Expect During Construction:
  • Parking Restrictions along Bishop Allen Drive and a small portion of Inman Street.
  • Truck activity around the site to remove debris
  • Heavy equipment on site including water misters controlling dust
  • Activity on site should last approximately one month total
