Many people come to spiritual life because of difficulties in their lives. Some find meditation a healing discipline that allows them to experience their individual stories with a new sense of self-compassion and caring.
Acknowledging and relinquishing blame and shame can be part of this transformative process. As we learn the Buddhist teachings on karma and the power of visualization, we learn that we can change our stories from within, by applying Buddhist purification practices.
Visualizing ourselves in the presence of a healing Buddha, we acknowledge our pain and receive healing and purifying light to begin a new story of inner change and transformation.
This class is especially important for students of Tibetan Buddhism, as the 100-Syllable Mantra of the Buddha Vajrasattva is part of the Mahamudra preliminaries (called “Ngondro”) that prepare us for meditations that connect us to the basic nature of our minds.
At the request of students who received Vajrasattva empowerment from Thrangu Vajra Master Lama Tobden at Columbus KTC in September, Lama Kathy Wesley will teach two short practices of the Buddha Vajrasattva suggested by Lama Tobden himself, so they can use the blessings they received and make it part of their daily practice.
