Valentine Distilling Co.

When Valentine first started production, there were approximately 15 to 20 micro-distilleries in the U.S. Today, there are more than 2,000. In the tradition of Detroit’s manufacturing leadership, Valentine is dedicated to American ingenuity, quality manufacturing, and small batch distilling using old-world techniques that create superior tasting products.

The initial bursts of juniper berries are mellow and tame, and are followed by touches of vanilla, citrus, cardamom and cinnamon. An expressive burst of aromas of deep dark fruits lead into layered tones of lifted red fruit and a soft, luscious mid-palate. A juicy, vibrant entry with notes of black cherry, black raspberry, fig, baking spice and fresh Santa Rosa plum, is interwoven with supple, textured tannins and acidity on the long, complex finish. Pair well with grilled steak, sausage and peppers with cheesy polenta, and pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces such as baked rigatoni or pappardelle Bolognese. Pairs well with semi-hard cheeses such as dry jack – our favorite is from a local Sonoma producer, Vella Cheese Company – and aged cheddar or gouda.

Ceretto

White and sweet, it is the par excellence dessert wine. It is pale yellow in color, the intensity of which varies according to the year, intensely fruity, aromatic and lingering.
