New Building Blocks Series with Michelle Hunter

We are excited to announce the beginning of a new Building Blocks series with Michelle Hunter. Beginning on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, we'll have two sessions from which to choose: afternoon 2:00pm - 4:00pm OR evening 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Space is limited for this series and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are considering it, you must act quickly! We need your registration and yarn order NO LATER THAN February 15th!

Join Michelle Hunter, aka KnitPurlHunter, as she leads another MYSTERY Knit-Along (KAL) beginning Thursday, April 6.

Adorable Ewe is a "sheep-themed sweater too cute to miss! Sized to 6 month baby, this project is a "great way to gain sweater experience. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned sweater knitter, this project has something for you."

  • Yarn - Simpliworsted by HiKoo, 55% merino uperwash, 28% acrylic, 17% nylon, 100g/140 yards. 
    • 2 skeins Main Color
    • 1 skein sheep color - white (color 001) or natural (color 003)
    • 1 skein black sheep accent (color 002)
  • Needles

    • US 9 (5.5mm) 24" circular or straights OR size needed to achieve gauge
    • US 8 (5.0mm) 32" circular needle  (If larger needle size is adjusted, this needle should be one size smaller than adjusted size)
  • Notions - Four 5/8" buttons, in one style. Samples pictured are:

Friends Knit on Friday Mornings
Looking for a time and place to socialize while you knit or crochet? Look no further than Friday mornings, 10:00am - noon at Knitting Temptations! Our "Friends Knit" (or crochet) gathers weekly on Fridays in our beautiful, spacious classroom. All are welcome; no fee and reservation needed! Meet and greet other fiber enthusiasts as you work on your own project. 

You may register for classes in person or by calling the shop at
(614) 734-0618 . We require that you make payment in full when you register and that you purchase your supplies for our classes at Knitting Temptations.

One all-day class
Instructor: Linda Mihely

In this one-day class, you will make your own Sami bracelet with the traditional materials from Sweden. You will learn the basic braid (pictured, right) and the bracelet construction techniques. Several leather color choices (besides the traditional black) are available. You will make your bracelet entirely by hand! Once you know the basics, your imagination can take flight and you can created layered braids like the ones pictured below.

Basic experience with needle-and-thread, hand sewing is necessary.

For best results, please purchase your bracelet leather ahead of time so that you have time to shop for and match your thread the the leather.

Sami bracelet supplies needed; purchase at Knitting Temptations:
  • Bracelet leather
  • Tin strands
  • Antler button
  • Leather button braid
  • Sinew (to match bracelet leather)
Other supplies/tools needed for class:
  • Button & coat thread, to match leather
  • Sulky® invisible nylon thread - clear or grey
  • LocTite® vinyl, fabric & plastic flexible adhesive
  • Elmer's® Craft Bond rubber cement
  • Thimble
  • Small sharp-tipped scissors
  • Small needle-nosed pliers
  • Sharp hand sewing needle, size 18, chenille or crewel style
There will be a break for lunch so participants can get lunch out or bring a lunch -- refrigerator and microwave are available for use.

One 2-hour class
Skill level: Beginner Knit
As the name implies, Knitting 101 is for the Complete and Utter beginner! In this single class, learn the knitting basics of how to cast  on,  knit, purl, and bind off. We supply the needles and yarn to learn and practice in class. By the end, you will the necessary skills to make a simple project on your own.
Saturday, February 18,  10:00am - 12:00pm
Wednesday, February 22, 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Class fee: $30.00 - yarn provided; hook extra
One 2-hour class
Skill level: Beginner Crochet

Learn chain stitches, half double and double crochet, and triple crochet. Note: Crochet is an incredibly useful skill for knitters -- consider bringing the power of the crochet hook to your knitting projects!

We provide the yarn. Students need to bring/purchase a crochet hook size US G (4 mm) or US H (5 mm).

Thursday, March 9, 1:00pm - 3:00pm OR 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Class fee: $80.00 - yarn provided; other supplies extra
Three 2-hour classes
Skill level: Easy Knit

This class is designed to expand on the knitting fundamentals learned in Beginning Knitting. Successful participants need to be able to execute on their own the knitting fundamentals:
  • knit and purl stitches
  • long-tail and/or knitted cast on
  • standard bind-off
To expand on these fundamentals, you will learn new concepts including gauge, new stitch types, stitch patterns, choosing yarn and needles for projects, basic shaping stitches, and finally, a brief introduction to circular knitting.

Between class sessions, you will work on homework swatches and small items to reinforce concepts learned in class. 
We provide the yarn. Students need to bring/purchase 24" circular needles in sizes US 6 and US 8. 
There is no pre-work for this class, but there is homework between classes, so please plan accordingly.

Saturdays, 10:00am - 12:00pm, on: 
Class 1: February 25  
Class 2: March 11
Class 3: March 25

Class fee: $75.00 - supplies extra
Pattern: $6.00 + tax 
Instructor: Kristen Bucci
Three 2-hour classes 
Skill level: Easy Knit

Learn to make a classic top down sock in the round using the Magic Loop method. Students must be comfortable knitting and purling. Learn numerous sock techniques including: magic loop, classic heel, left and right leaning decreases, and kitchener stitch. Each of these skills is applicable to many other knitting projects. 
Supplies needed:
  • Yarn: approximately 400 yards of fingering-weight. Note on choosing yarn: Sock stitches are small and show up best in LIGHT colors.
  • Needles: 32" circular in size US 1
  • Tapestry needle
There is no pre-work for this class, but there is homework between classes, so please plan accordingly.
