Soter Vineyards Wine Tasting

WHERE: In our Cellar Space
WHEN: Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30pm
WHAT: Join us in welcoming James Cahill from Soter Vineyards, Planet Oregon and winemaker at North Valley Vineyards. At this intimate seated tasting, James will walk us through a series of fantastic wines from the Willamette Valley while focusing on the terroir and the incredible history of this burgeoning wine-producing region. Tickets are $25, the cost of which will be refunded with any wine purchased from the event. Seating is limited.

WHEN : Saturday, March 9th at 3:00pm
WHAT : North Loop Wine & Spirits is excited to host an informative seated tasting guided by one of only 379 Masters of Wine in the world, David LaMire. This is a rare opportunity and we hope you will join us for an opportunity to learn from one of the most knowledgeable wine professionals out there. David will focus on the wines of Shaw+Smith and Tolpuddle, two of the top projects in Australia today. Discussion will focus on the role of cooler climates and higher elevation in the production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Tasmania, plus a range of wines from the Adelaide Hills of Australia. Seating is limited.

Doug's Wine Review :
Emile Beyer Pinot Blanc Tradition 2016 - $21.99
We poured this at our grand tasting and its focused minerality, nervy acidity, and bright citrus flavors made it one of my personal favorites amongst the whites. This wine is a perfect reminder that we all really should be drinking more wines from Alsace. 
David's Wine Review :
2017 Athletes du Vin AOC Touraine Chenin Blanc - $22.99
We just love Chenin Blanc no use trying to hide it. Chenin makes wine of intensity, concentated flavors and, at times, remarkable complexity. The Atheletes du Vin is more on the fun end of the spectrum but the honeysuckle and lime notes will get your attention in a way a lot of white wine doesn't. The Atheletes project is a joint venture of several French wine makers in the Vini Be Good Network. The idea is to create affordable and distinctly varietal correct wines from the Loire valley. Of course, there's the issue of sweetness. I know it's a dirty word but in this wine has a touch of RS (residual sugar). The resulting wine is perfectly balanced. The very, very small amount of sweetness balances the acidity, accentuates the ripe fruit flavors and makes this wine an indispensable match to mildly spicy foods. Your just going to have to trust me.
Madison's Wine Review :
Louis de Grenelle Saumur Brut Rosé - $22.99
Louis de Grenelle is one of the last remaining family-owned, truly quality oriented houses dedicated to sparkling wine in Saumur. Hand harvested, traditional method, low dosage and low intervention.. this bottling is made entirely from Cabernet Franc grapes. Its bright, crisp, and delicious with just enough richness.
Patti's Wine Review :
Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup Tour de Pierres 2014 - $17.99
This is not your standard GSM blend (50% Syrah/40% Grenache/10%Mourvedre), perhaps we can thank the biodynamic farming practices or the minimal intervention winemaking style. Whatever they're doing it's working. Subtle white pepper spice gives way to a purity of fruit that is remarkable in a wine so reasonably priced. Red berries and cocoa powder are dominant on the mid-palate with a hint of mint and licorice on the finish. This wine from the Languedoc has so much good going on - it's unfiltered, undergoes natural fermentation, is certified organic and is aged in oak for 12 months (10-20% new oak). It's truly a gem among the many. Seriously try this wine!
