The Valero Benicia Refinery hosts 15 delegates from Tula, Mexico

On the morning of July 3rd, the Valero Benicia Refinery was proud to collaborate with the Benicia – Tula Sister Cities Association and host 15 delegates from Tula, Mexico.


During the refinery visit, Valero employees provided guests with a Community Presentation as an educational tool to learn about our operations.


The refinery will work with the City of Benicia and Benicia Rotary Club to grow the relationship amongst Benicia community stakeholders and our ‘Sister City’ of Tula, Mexico.

Valero grant provides eight-passenger van for Leaven Kids

Valero has awarded a $60,000 grant to Leaven Kids, a nonprofit committed to early childhood education. The eight-passenger van will allow more Benicia area kids to access Leaven's educational programs and services.


“Transportation is a critical first step to ensuring that local youth have access to the in-community resources made available to them through programs like Leaven Kids,” said Paul Adler, Director of Community Relations and Government Affairs for Valero. “Through the purchase and mobilization of an 8-passenger van, we can help remove obstacles faced by young students when looking to connect with local educational services."

Valero Benicia Refinery congratulates their Volunteer Council

The Valero Benicia Refinery Volunteer Council is dedicated to improving lives, inspiring others, and promoting a spirit of giving throughout Benicia and the communities we serve. Volunteer activities that we participated in during the past 12 months include working with local food banks, participating in toy drives, and recognizing International Women’s Day & LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Valero Volunteers donate 87 backpacks to local organizations

Valero volunteers held a backpack drive packing party on Thursday, July 27th. The refinery donated 87 backpacks to community organizations including the Solano County Office of Education, the Benicia Community Action Council, Shelter Inc., and the Bay Area Crisis Nursery.

Valero Benicia Refinery partners with local healthcare stakeholders and hosts an Annual Wellness Fair

On July 26th, the Valero Benicia Refinery invited local healthcare stakeholders to attend the refinery’s annual Wellness Fair. Representatives from Benicia Bicycle Club, Benicia Family Dentistry, the Humane Society of the North Bay, John Muir Health, Movement Chiropractic, Sutter Health, Solano County Mental Health Services, and Touro University set up informational booths for refinery workers and educated them about programs they offer to Solano & Contra Costa County residents.


PG&E and Solano Transportation Authority also provided material about their respective organizations. The refinery will continue to partner with these organizations and assist them in their efforts to provide health and financial tools for our community.
