This year, Valero Benicia volunteers participated in 2 special events to celebrate Earth Day. We collaborated with Loma Vista Farms and the Benicia Tree Foundation on the below activities:

Valero Volunteers helped to clean up and work on maintenance around Loma Vista Farms before Family Day. The volunteers weeded around the garden patches and outside the gates to improve the curb appeal and prepare the fenced area for the planting of peas during the growing season. They loaded up wheelbarrows with twigs, weeds, and debris and cut back shrubs and trees in the orchard area, leaving a happier, cleaner area for the joyful duck family in the center pond.

A group of 15 volunteers watered over 100 acorns and tree saplings at the Lake Herman Open Space. Seeds of native trees have been planted during the past two winters and got plenty of watering to help them survive our ongoing dry season.

On April 22, a group of Valero Volunteers assisted Rebuilding Together Solano County with their drive-thru food pantry.

Valero volunteers helped to unload 2 pallets of chicken noodle soup and assemble non-perishable food bags, then distributed more than 6,500 pounds of food to 75 veterans, seniors, disabled residents, and low-income families. Additionally, Valero volunteers help with weekly deliveries to homebound veterans and seniors and helped deliver 32 boxes that day.

We are proud to be a part of the Solano County community and look forward to continued partnership and assisting our community with their needs.

Valero's efforts in advancing the future of energy were recently recognized by American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM). The Innovation Award recognizes refineries and their contractors who have implemented unique and innovative programs or practices to effectively improve their site's performance for occupational and process safety.

Out of a field of 49 applicants, 5 winners were selected. Of that group, Valero refineries received 3 Innovation Awards - St. Charles, Houston, and Benicia.
