Valero raises money for food banks, Benicia gets new community art

Motorcycle Ride and Car Show Supports Local Food Banks

On Saturday, September 7 ^th , the Benicia Refinery hosted the 18 ^th Annual Bay Area Refinery Food Run that gave employees from four different refineries and contract employees an opportunity to work together toward a common goal – feeding hungry people in their community. All proceeds from the food drive and food run were donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Valero is proud to support the Food Bank that has provided food to the most vulnerable members of our community since 1975.

Valero Raised $55.6 Million for Charities Nationwide in 2018

In addition to $55.6 million in charitable contributions, Valero employees companywide offered over 150,000 volunteer hours in 2018. Total criteria emissions have dropped 44% and greenhouse gas emissions have dropped 21%. Public Art Initiative Funding in Action

You may have noticed that traffic signal boxes, public benches and other public surfaces have been transforming into works of art around town. In 2018, the Benicia Refinery contributed $19,900 to the Arts and Culture Commission to encourage local students and artists to transform community spaces into works of art.

Rebuilding Together Installs Fire Alarms in Low Income Homes

On August 24, residents of the Carquinez Highlands Mobile Home Park had free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms installed by Rebuilding Together thanks to a $15,000 dollar grant from the Benicia Refinery. This event will help ensure the safety those living in Benicia's low income homes.
