A letter from the president and CEO of the Marshall University Foundation

Greetings Marshall Alumni and Friends:

I hope everyone is doing well and navigating the ups and downs of a crazy winter. I am writing this message on the same day classes and offices were delayed due to heavy flooding in Huntington, just two days after our first 70-degree day of the year!

As you can see by the attached stories below, we were thrilled and honored to celebrate a multi-million-dollar grant from the Valhalla Foundation in support of Marshall For All, as well as a generous donation from Airbus Helicopters in the U.S. to provide scholarships for our Division of Aviation students training to be pilots in the helicopter industry. I continue to be inspired and humbled by the support for Marshall University. In fact, as of Feb. 5, more than $24 million in new gifts and commitments have been given to the Marshall University Foundation this fiscal year.

Staci, our kids, and I have been enjoying our first basketball season in the Cam - the energy and excitement in recent games has been incredible, including our men’s team dynamic win over Sun Belt-leading Arkansas State on Wednesday night. We’d love to see you at a future men’s and/or women’s game before the regular season ends in early March.

Nominations for our Annual Alumni Awards close Feb. 14, and mark your calendar for Marshall’s Day of Giving April 23-24. We will be announcing several generous match opportunities soon, and would be incredibly grateful for any and all support from the Herd Family for our students and this incredible institution we all love.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be of any assistance. And Go Herd!

Nico

Did you know Marshall's Old Main used to have a section to house students as a dormitory?

Built between 1868 and 1908 through a series of connected buildings, Old Main is the most prominent landmark on campus. It hosts the university's administrative offices, Honors College and College of Liberal Arts administrative offices, but in 1905 students lived - literally - inside Old Main.
