Tomorrow's Worship Service
Come To The Table Of Our King
1 Cor 11:23-26 NIV

“I pass on to you what I received from the Lord Himself…” When the apostle Paul writes this to the church at Corinth, he is giving a snapshot of how our life together is to be until Jesus comes. Specifically, the Lord’s supper is a snapshot of being together with Jesus and each other. There are many things we treasure about our faith, but none can compare to this picture of the Lord of the universe sitting down at the table to share a meal intimately with His friends – His family.

Please join us on Sabbath to consider Paul's words from 1 Corinthians 11 and to celebrate the Lord's Supper, Jesus' reminder of the banquet we will soon share with Him.

I look forward to seeing you!

Attitude of Gratitude
This week we express our gratitude to God for one of our musically gifted families, René and Tetiana Silvestre and their little Rachel. Music is a powerful force, it has the power of lifting up our souls and brining them closer to God. The Silvestre family is generously giving of their musical talents by serving in our Praise Team.  It is such a joy to see little Rachel support her parents in song - such a nice touch.  We are grateful for their service.

René comes from La Paz, Bolivia, while Tetiana is originally from Kiev, Ukraine. They met in an SDA church in Manhattan, New York. Although in different professional paths, he an engineer and she a nurse, they were united by their passion for singing and serving. They fell in love, got married, and had little Rachel in the “world’s most romantic city” (in their words).

Last April, they moved to LA in response to René’s job opportunity.  They had prayed for a church where they could serve and sing. God’s answer was Vallejo Drive Church. We are so happy to have them as part of our church family.

Please take time to say hi and thank them for their service.  … and if you too have a musical strain in your DNA, consider joining either the Praise Team or our Chancel Choir. You will be blessed while blessing others.

Church Announcements
For the past three years we have learned to live with the global pandemic.  We are thankful to God that things have gotten a lot better and we have started to enjoy the “new normal.”

However, we still need to be vigilant.  Please be aware that there is a new variant (XBB.1.5) currently circulating that is the most contagious strain yet.  It may cause another wave of infections, even among those who have been previously infected or vaccinated.

Please continue to take the necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy, including masking, social distancing, hand washing, etc. The Southern California Conference strongly recommends that masks are worn indoors at our churches. This is not a mandate, though.  Let’s enjoy our fellowship yet be cognizant of the dangers of Covid-19.
Norberto Leiss
(February 28, 1955 - December 7, 2022)

The memorial service for Norberto Leiss will be on January 28, 2023 at 2:30pm at the Vallejo Drive Church. Reception to follow.

As plant manager for 17 years, Norberto was a faithful member and servant of God here at the Vallejo Drive Church.

The Leiss Family would like to thank the Vallejo Drive Church for all their love and support during this difficult time.

Financial gifts can be donated to Glendale Adventist Academy in memory of Norberto Leiss. Click here to donate to GAA.

Tonight is our launch date. I am truly looking forward to spending some quality time with you the next six Friday nights.

Plan on attending and inviting your friends as well.

The first meeting is TONIGHT in the Cafe at 7:00 p.m.
We will try to keep the meeting to an hour and a half.

Tonight’s topic is:
The Word of the Gospel: The Point of the Book
We will be looking at the purpose and function of the Bible.

In preparation of tomorrow’s meeting reflect on the following questions:
  • What is the main purpose of the Bible?
  • What does it really mean to “know the Bible”?
  • How should we study the Bible and what hermeneutical principles should we use?

See you all tonight

Pastor Aivars

Job Opening!

The Vallejo Drive Church is in need of a facilities manager. The pastors are looking for someone who is a committed Seventh-day Adventist that can work part-time during the week and help us fulfill our mission:

The Vallejo Drive Church of Seventh-day Adventists exists to experience and to share the loving presence of Christ,
to equip our faith community for life and ministry,
and to engage a world in need.

We invite you to share this work opportunity with family and friends. Although we are looking for Adventist candidates, they do not have to be a member of the Vallejo Drive Church.

Please contact Pastor Aivars or the church office for more information. Interested applicants can submit their resume to adminpastor@vallejodrive.church.
