Our Father Forgives- Part 2

“Forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.” This phrase of the Lord’s Prayer, "as we have forgiven..." asks God to forgive us to the same extent as we forgive others.

Have you ever prayed this part of Jesus' prayer without thinking of the implications? Join us Sabbath morning at 11:00 as we consider how to forgive those who have hurt us.

I look forward to seeing you,

Pastor Terry Benson

Erin and Jan Stone

Jan grew up in Loma Linda, attended college at Andrews University, then returned to Loma Linda for medical school. After practicing for many years as a general surgeon, she is now semi-retired. She does wound care in long-term care facilities and volunteers each week teaching minor surgery to family medicine residents at a free clinic in Simi Valley. In her free time she takes classes at the local senior center and community college, reads, tries new recipes, quilts, and plays violin in the LA Doctors Symphony Orchestra.

Erin’s father was in the Air Force, so he moved around a lot. He attended college in North Carolina and medical school in Loma Linda. He is also semi-retired and practices geriatrics/internal medicine at long-term care facilities. Being interested in other religions he obtained an MA in religion with an emphasis on inter-religious studies. He has written articles for both popular and academic publications. In his free time he gardens, bikes, and maintains the house.

The Stones have attended Vallejo Drive for over 30 years. Jan sings in the choir and has played piano in the lower division Sabbath School classes. Erin is an adult Sabbath School teacher and chairman of the Vallejo Drive Church Endowment Board. They both helped with the church Home Again LA ministry last month. They are thankful for the fellowship of the church family, and the various ministries of the church.

We at the Vallejo Drive Church would like to thank Jan and Erin for all of their enthusiasm, dedication, and hard work in ministry. Perhaps you too will hear God’s call to serve in one of the many ministries we have here. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Whatever talents and skills you have, He can use you.

Job Opening!

The Vallejo Drive Church is in need of a facilities manager. The pastors are looking for someone who is a committed Seventh-day Adventist that can work part-time during the week and help us fulfill our mission:

The Vallejo Drive Church of Seventh-day Adventists exists to experience and to share the loving presence of Christ,
to equip our faith community for life and ministry,
and to engage a world in need.

We invite you to share this work opportunity with family and friends. Although we are looking for Adventist candidates, they do not have to be a member of the Vallejo Drive Church.

Please contact Pastor Aivars or the church office for more information. Interested applicants can submit their resume to adminpastor@vallejodrive.church.

Thank you for keeping our church and its employees in prayer.
