VALLEJO - The Vallejo Police Department is pleased to announce our partnership with Truleo to bring body camera audio analysis to the City of Vallejo. The new audio intelligence platform transcribes body-worn camera audio so police leadership can analyze officer interactions with the public. The technology can also detect de-escalation and serve as an early warning tool to identify areas for improvement.
In most cases, body-worn camera video is only reviewed during critical incidents, at times taking hours to analyze. With Truleo, body-worn camera videos can be analyzed in real time, cutting review time by up to 90%. The new technology also provides police leadership with data-driven insights and trends to mitigate risk, reduce liability, improve service delivery, highlight excellent performance, and inform training decisions.
“Adding Truleo to our toolkit allows us to build trust and legitimacy with the community we serve,” Vallejo Chief of Police Shawny K. Williams stated. “These core principles, along with accountability, transparency, integrity, and professionalism are the pinnacle of relational policing. We’re excited to partner with Truleo as we build upon this long-term commitment.”
The Truleo model also features event classification to categorize service call types and the tenor of the conversations. Truleo then measures metrics such as the percentage of respectful and courteous interactions an officer has on a monthly basis and what language is effective during an interaction with a community member.
The Vallejo Police Department will begin using the Truleo software in January 2022.
