VALLEJO PD INVESTIGATES JULY 14, 2021 HOMICIDE OF 15-YEAR-OLD JUVENILE
VALLEJO - On July 14, 2021, at approximately 5:52 PM, Vallejo Police Officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the 200 block of Maine Street in South Vallejo. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Tragically, the juvenile victim was declared deceased at the scene by Vallejo Fire medical personnel.
 
At the scene of the incident, there were numerous people seen running in the area immediately after the shooting. Several people were reportedly armed with handguns. In addition, two armed and uniformed complex security guards responded to the shooting and were shot at by alleged suspects(s). One of the security guards returned fire, and it has not yet been determined if the alleged suspect(s) were struck. The security guards were not injured, and there have been no additional reports of injuries.
 
"These deadly attacks on our children and the proliferation of gun violence in our city is not only a public health crisis, but a perpetuation of generational trauma," Chief of Police Shawny K. Williams stated. "This vicious cycle of community violence must stop today, and we will not turn a blind-eye to these senseless acts plaguing the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our City."
 
"Homicide is the leading cause of death of African-American males between the ages of 15-34. This is a public health crisis. We must employ federal, state and local resources to combat this issue," Chief Williams continued. "I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this precious life lost and we will be doing everything in our power to bring about justice in this case."
 
This is an active and ongoing investigation by the Vallejo Police Department Detective Division and no other suspect information is available at this time.
