Vallejo Police Department Launches Joint Operation with ATF to Stop Gun Violence

VALLEJO, CA- The Vallejo Police Department is working with its federal partners to reduce violent crime and make Vallejo a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. Today, we partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) in a joint operation to address the gun violence that has plagued our city, It takes a team approach to stop the violence on our streets. We are working side-by-side with our community members and our law enforcement partners using evidence-based policing to get guns out of the hands of criminals and ultimately save lives.” stated Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta.

Today’s joint operation is part of an ongoing investigation, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California will release more details in the coming weeks. But it’s clear that our partnerships with community organizations along with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies are critical to stopping violent crime, “Ensuring the safety of the public is at the forefront of ATF’s mission,” said Special Agent in Charge Jennifer Cicolani, San Francisco Field Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. “Partnerships are the backbone of law enforcement, and we are honored to work alongside the Vallejo Police Department to combat violent crime."

While the Vallejo Police Department focuses heavily on working collaboratively, it also uses state-of-the-art technology, such as the new RAVEN Gunshot Detection System that the department is testing. It immediately alerts the officers of where shots are fired.
