Prayers for our church as we continue to recover from damage to our church building last summer. Heavy rains in June resulted in a wet basement which caused a severe mold issue. A hail and wind storm in late summer damaged the church roof. As we were unable to get the roof replaced before winter, it will be reroofed this spring. The basement will be mold free soon. It has been a long, slow process and a lot of hard work. The building is 122 years old.

Our 5th Sunday Pocket Change Mission Offering continues to be an important part of our church's outreach. The mission committee decides where the offering goes and the church budget adds $100 to each offering. Some projects include: making personal care kits for the CADA House in Mankato and packing BUC Bags, which are weekend food bags for elementary students. We have provided scholarships to send city kids to Youth for Christ camps and helped friends and neighbors in need. We donate to the local food shelf and purchase gas cards which are given to the county Veterans office to distribute to Veterans. This past year we purchased animals for families through the Presbyterian Giving Catalog.

Worship Resources for Lent

The Season of Lent

The season of Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and self-examination in preparation for the celebration of the resurrection of the Lord at Easter. It is a period of 40 days — like the flood of Genesis, Moses’ sojourn at Mount Sinai, Elijah’s journey to Mount Horeb, Jonah’s call to Ninevah to repent and Jesus’ time of testing in the wilderness. (The Sundays in Lent are not counted in this reckoning of the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter, as every Lord’s Day is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In the early church, Lent was a time of preparation for the celebration of baptism at the Easter Vigil. In many communities of faith it remains a time to equip and nurture candidates for baptism and confirmation and to reflect deeply on the theme of baptismal discipleship.
