A NOTE FROM THE CHAMBER AND OUR FRIENDS AT TOTAL OFFICE CONCEPTS
Phising Scam Alert!
The Chamber has been made aware of fraudulent activity in the area targeting businesses and their customers. Please be cautious of unusual messages you may receive via mail, telephone, social media and email. Scammers operate by pretending to be someone you trust, creating a false sense of urgency, using untraceable payment methods and intimidating their targets. Please inform your employees and coworkers to be vigilant and avoid becoming a victim. If you witness suspicious activity, please file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. If you have lost money or other possessions as part of a fraudulent scheme, you will likely need to file a report with local police also.
Local businesses are currently reporting two scams; fake invoices being sent to customers and phishing emails which pose as coming from one of your trusted contacts. Customers and vendors of one of our members, Total Office Concepts, are being targeted with fake invoices and requests for customers to modify their payment methods. Please call TOC at 509-525-5600 if you have any questions about the authenticity of communications you have received from any of their employees.
