This June Derek Carr joined our DC4KIDS members at our special reception to celebrate the impact of their ongoing support of our mission. This year's donations go to support Valley Children's Adaptive Sports program, the only one of its kind in Central California, which provides free recreational and athletic experiences for those with physical disabilities or mobility impairments.
Members and their guests enjoyed a meet and greet with Derek along with a signing opportunity. Special guests also included our incredible athletes from the Adaptive Sports program. Derek went on to share his passion for Valley Children's, thank the outstanding staff and answered questions from the audience. Derek was also presented with a gift of appreciation signed by Valley Children's physicians for his long-standing support with Valley Children's. In its eighth year, DC4KIDS has raised more than $700,000!
On behalf of Derek and Heather Carr, thank you to all who support DC4KIDS! If you would like more information about becoming a DC4KIDS member and attending next year's event, contact the Foundation at 559-353-7100.

We continue to be grateful to Carl and Lulu Mitchell for their annual gift of $100,000 towards the specialty care center in Fowler. The Mitchell family pledged $1 million in 2015 in support of the center to ensure access to high-quality pediatric services for families living in rural areas of Fresno County.
One of our goals at Valley Children's Healthcare Foundation is to aide continued expansion of Valley Children's Healthcare so that every Central California family has access to specialize pediatric care within 30 minutes of their home.
Major gifts like the Mitchell's help streamline this goal into a reality, often being the impetus as well as the momentum to break ground and open doors in new locations. Thank you Carl and Lulu!

The Stockbridge Family recently donated $10,000 towards Valley Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Stockbridge Family has been generous to Valley Children’s over the years not only monetarily but also donating their home for special events.
The Stockbridge Family Legacy Fund was established in 2019. The fund currently provides grants to local community-based organizations focusing on youth, women, and children.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Valley Children's has been ranked as one of the best Children's Hospitals in Neonatology by US News and World Report for it's seventh year. From open-heart surgery on a heart the size of a walnut, to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) - a life-sustaining intervention for failing heart and lung function - Valley Children's provides the highest level of care available for neonates and infants. Valley Children's also supports a network of NICUs throughout Central California, providing the opportunity for families with critically ill babies to receive treatment closer to home. Gifts like the Stockbridge Family's help provide more of the specialized equipment, training, and state-of-the art care that our tiniest patients require. We are so grateful to the Stockbridge Family for their unwavering support and for this incredible gift.

We would like to give a very special thank you to Pleasant Valley State Prison for all of their support and generosity. This year the Warden and many of his staff brought a gift of $5,000 to benefit Valley Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in honor of the Happy Hearts campaign.
The Happy Hearts campaign was established by Mr. Skip Nugent in 2003, as a fundraiser in loving memory of his daughter, Heather Nugent. Heather had been a patient at Valley Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and the excellent PICU team left a lasting impression on the hearts of the Nugent family. Valley Children's PICU has 42 beds and more than 130 staff, offering 24/7 coverage to nearly 1,500 children each year. Their dedication to interdisciplinary care helps save the lives of critically ill and injured children of all ages and sizes every day. Gifts like the one from Pleasant Valley State Prison help provide the wide range of supplies, state-of-the-art equipment, and ongoing training required to address the wide range of needs they encounter. If you would like to learn more about supporting Valley Children's PICU, call 559-353-7100 or email foundation@valleychildrens.org today.
Thank you to everyone at Pleasant Valley State Prison who organized, supported, and participated to make this event such a success.

Recently we invited team members from local Panda Express stores for a special tour of the departments they help support. Panda Express campaigns for Valley Children's all year long by asking restaurant guests for donations at the register. We are so grateful for their unwavering support and want to keep their team connected to our mission.
The Panda Cares Center of Hope promotes healing by providing specially curated programs and dedicated space inside Valley Children's Hospital that address each child's entire wellbeing, including their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs. Since 2009, Panda Express guests and associates in the Central Valley, with the support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, have raised more than $5.3 million for Valley Children's Hospital. Their visionary pledge for the Panda Cares Center of Hope is to raise $6 million between 2020-2030.
We invite you to join us in sharing our gratitude. Be sure to thank Panda Express employees whenever you are in the restaurants for all the ways they have helped save and nurture young lives in the Central Valley!
