We want to share a huge thanks to the team at Wild Electric for their recent donation of $7,500 to the Claude & Betty Lou Laval Angel Fund. Rick Merlo, president of Wild Electric, has been generously donating annually to Valley Children's since 2016.

The Angel Fund was developed to help families take care of non-medical expenses during their child's hospital stay, such as energy bills and transportation costs. Thanks to philanthropists like Rick Merlo, many families will be served through the Angel Fund in the months ahead, alleviating financial burdens so they can focus on helping their child heal.

To learn more about how you can donate to the Claude & Betty Lou Laval Angel Fund, please call the Foundation team at 559-353-7100 or email us at foundation@valleychildrens.org.

The Adaptive Sports Program is able to continue offering our athletes the chance to participate in a wide range of sports by providing them with specialized gear, instruction, and the appropriate spot coaches where needed, all because of generous donors like you. Thank you!

In July, Valley Children's pediatric specialists traveled to Armenia as part of an ongoing formal partnership with Wigmore Women's & Children's Hospital in Yerevan. This partnership formally began in 2023 with the purpose of elevating pediatric healthcare in Armenia. With the support of visionary philanthropists like Shari Evert, our exchange in July made a significant impact.

During the visit, Valley Children’s pediatric specialists worked together with Wigmore's medical team and staff to exchange experience and knowledge. In addition, members of Valley Children’s Neurosciences team participated in a neurosciences conference aimed at sharing some of the latest information and techniques in the field with pediatric neurologists, neonatologists and pediatricians.

"This exchange represents an important next step in the commitment we made with Wigmore Women's & Children's Hospital to support transformative change in the healthcare landscape of Armenia," said Valley Children's President & CEO Todd Suntrapak.

Among those who represented Valley Children's on the 2024 trip:

  • Dr. Patricia Clerkin, medical director, Pediatric Neurosurgery
  • Dr. Karen Dahl, vice president, Medical Affairs and Physician Health and Development
  • Dr. Steven Ehhreich, pediatric neurologist
  • Dr. Stephanie Jones, pediatric surgeon
  • Amy Mauk-Fisher, RN, critical care charge nurse
  • Dr. Julianna Sahoria, pediatric emergency medicine physician
  • Cesar Santos, medical director, Neurosciences
  • Rob Saroyan, President, Valley Children's Healthcare Foundation
