Fire Safety Committee Volunteer Opportunity
The Fire Safety Committee plays a crucial role in safeguarding the welfare of all Association members. The committee, comprised of five members, including one board director, was formed to establish and implement fire-safe best practices within the Association and among its members.
We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill one open seat on the committee. Committee members engage in committee meetings, actively contribute to discussions, and support implementing fire safety initiatives. Ideal candidates should have a firefighting background, fire-focused land management, or first responder experience. Meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Admin Board room.
The committee's primary objectives are as follows:
a. To develop, implement, and maintain fire safety policies, procedures, and protocols
b. To identify and assess fire hazards within the Association.
c. To educate stakeholders on fire safety measures and evacuation procedures.
d. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fire safety measures.
e. To make recommendations for improvements and to recommend/take corrective actions to mitigate fire risks.
f. To ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal fire safety regulations and codes.
g. To explore the opportunity of becoming a California Firewise Community (Firewise).
h. To explore creating a Fire Safety Improvement Council (FSIC)—a 501C (3) non-profit organization—to obtain grants for reducing fire hazards in SDCEA.
We encourage qualified candidates to apply by sending a resume and a completed Committee Volunteer Request form to the Administration office at execsec@sdcea.net.
