Hello Homeowners,

Last week I wrote about my first 3 months and what I’ve learned and observed. Today, I am writing about what’s happening in the next 3 months. We will be having a number of events in the community:

  • NEW: Memorial Day Flag Ceremony at 8 am, meet at the flags in front of the Clubhouse/San Vicente Resort. It will be a meaningful event. After the ceremony, come inside for breakfast. We will have a complimentary champagne toast. The restaurants will be OPEN on Memorial Day for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

  • The Dan Reed Memorial Tunnel to Towers Golf Fundraiser is on Friday, May 30. Please sign up NOW, registration ends Friday, May 23. I will be out on the course to support this important non-profit organization. Come on out and have some fun, even if you’re not a great golfer, like me.

  • Concerts in the Park start on Saturday, June 7. Our concerts are a very popular event every 1st and 3rd Saturday at Ramona Oaks Park. It’s a great opportunity to meet more of your neighbors and fellow homeowners.

I’ve been collaborating with my team and Board members to create more fun, recreational, and family-oriented events throughout the year. We want to bring more value to our homeowners every step of the way. Becoming more engaged with the Association does not require you to attend Board meetings, it can also be taking advantage of the broad array of amenities and events right here in your backyard.

THANK YOU for coming out in large numbers for our Mother’s Day Brunch. I am pleased to report that we had 50% more people served this year as compared to 2024. It was definitely a success with truly great food and service. This is part of our financial puzzle. The more owners who come to us for meals, the better our bottom line will be.

On to business items for the next months… I will be working with an independent Reserve Analyst to review and update our reserve study. This is a critical piece that needs to be worked into next year’s budget. WE need this study to be as accurate as possible. We cannot work from numbers that underestimate the repair and replacement expenses or have timelines that do not meet with reality. I am truly excited to work with this specialist. My accounting education along with 30+ years of business/facility experience has helped me create accurate reserve studies for my communities.

Again, thanks for taking time to read these articles as WE work together to make SDCEA the best it can be!

Thank you, Carl Weise, GM
