Hello SDCEA Homeowners,

Happy Mother’s Day! Spring is a great time of year to celebrate our mothers. I cherish my mother for being the leader of our family. She did just about everything for our family and set a great example for us all. In addition to this holiday, my father made sure that on the kids’ birthdays, we would recognize our mom on that day, after all, she did all the hard work. Mothers, not just our own mothers, deserve serious recognition and love. Happy Mother’s Day!

Three months ago, when I came to the community, I was asked what my 90-day plan would be. My response was primarily to observe, learn, get to know the team, the Board, the committees, and the homeowners. My other goal was to increase the channels and frequency of communication with homeowners. I believe I have achieved that and more.

Now, it’s time to take what I’ve learned about our operations and finances to prioritize our collective issues and concerns. The most difficult part of this is that nearly all of these items need attention sooner than later. I am not waiting to take action. While  I have my own plans, I will work with the Board and you to gain more input on how we will make these changes. I/We need the homeowner’s input and understanding as we do this. Over the next six months, I plan on hosting more homeowner events that will combine information sharing with social events. I look forward to your participation.

The other significant piece of the SDCEA puzzle that I recognize is that this community needs Bold Leadership. That emanates from the Board of Directors that you have selected to represent you and management to take those initiatives and make them happen. In my opinion, after many years of owning and operating restaurants, golf resorts, hotels, and large HOAs, we are at an inflection point. What WE do in 2025, 2026, and 2027 will be critical to whether we continue down a path of deferred/neglected maintenance or WE take the bull by the horns and tackle the many projects that have been left behind for too many years and decades. My question to the community is, “What do you want SDCEA, YOUR COMMUNITY, to be in the next 5, 10, 20 years?

On the communication front, remember to use the link above to send me your questions for the upcoming “Coffee with Carl” event next week. I look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you for taking the time to read these articles, I hope you find them useful and informative.

Together, WE can make San Diego Country Estates the Best that it can Be.

Thank you, Carl Weise, GM
