Highlighting Hometown Heroes at San Diego County Ramona Fire Station 81

Firefighters put their lives on the line for citizens every day. Fire Captain Bert Ramirez has been a fire captain for 25 years and oversees Fire Station 81. He is honored to support the community's safety, proud of his team, and happy to highlight some of his firefighters.

Read about our local heroes and take a moment to be thankful, as true courage is seen in those who run toward the flames when others run away—firefighters who embody this bravery through their training and actions when called upon.

Firefighters face demanding daily responsibilities that extend beyond fighting fires. They respond to various emergencies, including medical incidents, vehicle accidents, and hazardous material situations, often requiring rapid decision-making under pressure. At the station, they maintain equipment, conduct drills, and always stay prepared for immediate action.

October Golf Course Update – Preparing for Winter

In this update, Scott Walwyn details the recent aerification process at San Vicente Golf Resort and shares insights on preparing the course for winter. He adds a lighthearted reminder about the importance of ball mark repair and course care.

ADA Lift at the Clubhouse: Project work will continue on Monday, Oct. 21. The back stairs will be closed, and those needing access to businesses on the bottom floor are advised to use the cart path.

Shade Structure at Pocket Park: Project work will begin on Monday, Oct. 21, and the park will close for approximately 30 days.

After-school reading tutoring provides students with the extra attention they need within the school setting to strengthen their literacy skills, foster their love for reading, and build a strong foundation for academic success.

Environmental Control Committee Volunteer Opportunity

An exciting volunteer position is available on the Environmental Control Committee (ECC). This is a wonderful opportunity for a member to contribute to the beauty and vitality of our community.

The Environmental Control Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving all proposed exterior improvements to homeowner lots. The ECC is significant in that it establishes architectural standards for the community, encompassing landscaping, RV concealment, and construction requirements. The committee is composed of three members, meeting on the 1^st and 3^rd Tuesday of each month for three hours to approve and inspect homeowner projects. The ECC has the greatest impact on every homeowner's property and the aesthetic of the community, making it so important to find homeowners with experience reading project plans or understanding various aspects of construction or project management.
